Lost, Lonely Language

Last night I had the greatest post all planned out in my mind.. So amazing and funny.  But can I think of a word of it today???  Nooooooo, of course not.  sigh

So, what do I do?  Have a blank post here?  Or babble on and on about nonsense to up my pages read?  (Oh, wait, I’m not in the Kindle paid per pages program. Whew!  So, I guess I can cut my losses.)

Lostlanguage is the title of this picture from Wiki Media

Pudding Pop’s Playful Pastimes

PP loves to come to my house.  Whenever I visit her, she asks, “Howzz, howzz?”   (And who can blame her??? I’m an awesome Omie!!!  If I do say so myself, who shouldn’t!!)

And, I love to have her!

One of her favorite activities:

Playing with rocks!  When DD1 told me that, I couldn’t believe it!  But it’s true!

Picking them out of the garden, throwing them,

Her favorite toys

hiding them,

The Hidey Hole

Sleeping (!!!) with her pet rock!  No pix of this, because she was in the bed with me, as I was trying my best to sleep too!  In a twin bed!!  But here’s the rock.  At least it is smooth, and no one ended up with a goose egg!  Yay!

Night-night lovey

More of her favorites: Taking a bath.  A daily must do!!

Enjoying herself at children’s Museum.

Picking perfect periwinkle posies.

I’m a more than willing canvas!

20150706_132456 Chalking a masterpiece.

And last but not least:

Eating is an all time favorite!

No pix of that either, since it would require showing her face.  DD1 nixes that for security reasons.  I certainly understand after hearing some horror stories.

Hope you enjoyed seeing how my precious plays!

Glasses Galore

I had waaaay too many glasses.

20150525_18140120150525_18031620150525_180251

The plastic glasses, the mugs, the grape goblets, the sippy cups, the real glass glasses…

AAAAHHHHH!

Too.Many.Drinking.Containers.

So, I got out my trusty “How to De-Clutter Too Many Glasses” Guide.

#1 said, Get rid of superfluous ones.  So, the glass one with tiny Coke bottles all over it went, because I never used it due to the tile floors.

#2.  If you have a set you like, and use, keep it.  So, I kept the grape goblets.

#3   If you don’t drink coffee, how many mugs do you need?  So, I got rid of a few of those.

#4   If the grand baby still needs a sippy cup, keep at least one.  Done.

#5   Why are you keeping plastic ones that are bent?  So, the Tampa General one that was now oval, instead of round, bit the dust.

#6   Consolidate the shelves.

Results:

20150525_181434      Notice the empty shelf above??  Pretty nice, huh?

20150525_181354          I’m allowed to keep these.  Uh, huh!  The book said!

Stuff to donate:

20150525_181608    Yeah, you didn’t see some of these in the befores, because they were in other cabinets. smh  Don’t ask me why!  I don’t have any better idea than you do!

Yes! Fist pump!  Looks so much better now!  And I have a prayer of fitting all my glasses (real glass or not), into my new, tinier kitchen!

I’ll take that as a WIN!

Under Cover, Under Counter

This looks bad, I know.

This is another one of those cases where you just need to be grateful we don’t have smell-o-vision.

Yeah, it kinda… um, how can I put this delicately… stinks.  Like mildew.

Now, I wasn’t aware that the sink leaked.  Until the day when I needed a cleaning wipe.  Yeah, remember that 1 day when I actually cleaned the sink???

I reached under there, and that whole towel was wet.  Nasty surprise!  But did I do anything about it?  Like remove it?  Throw it away?? C’mon, you know me better than that by now!!  (For those of you who are new, I’m lazy, and a slob– SHOCKER- right?  And a big time procrastinator.  That’s all, back to your regularly scheduled post.)

Sadly, that wet towel is still there, stinking, to this day. sniff, sniff  (It’s my allergies, I’m not crying over spilled milk, or whatever the heck that liquid is.  Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.)

Well, I found out it was only water, (YAY) and not from the sink (double yay!).  Did you see the plastic jugs to the left of the pipe?  Turns out there were 3 of ’em full of water, for our emergency stash.  Until suddenly, no water at all!  Not sure what happened, but there’s holes in them now.  At least now I won’t be afraid to take up the towel, YAY!  Maybe I’ll even do it now!  {Here’s hoping!}

You’ll be happy to know, the under counter was cleaned by the time I moved out, on June 30, 2015.  Yay, me!  (Or whomever cleaned it, who may or may not have been me.  Hint: It wasn’t me.)

(I’m so frustrated with myself right now.  I took a picture of the cleaned space.  But now I can’t find it.  (Typical slob prob.  Maybe I need to… organize (GASP!) the way I do my pix?)

Melinda’s Memoir

Nony

My email icon.  I hope those ladies don’t mind being on the web!

Hello  6/26/15  Just reread this today.;

melindasays:

I have purged today! 2 drawers full of stationery, 90% of which is being donated. The chest the drawers came out of has to be thrown away due to water damage. Then I purged 7 gallons of trash from a large moving box,(7 GALLONS!!!) and condensed down to a small diaper box! Feeling so good right now! Waiting for my husband to come back from the store, so he can bring me another box. Here’s hoping I can stay on this high for awhile!! Thank you, Nony!

I e-mailed this to myself, because I was re-reading the post of Nony’s and saw my comment from last year.

This was 15 days before I started my own blog.

It was so neat to catch a glimpse of my former self on her blog!

I can’t link to the specific post, because I didn’t save it, of course!  But here is her site.

http://www.aslobcomesclean.com/

Nony started out blogging anonymously, hence “Nony”, because she was so embarrassed.

Not so me, everyone who ever knew me, knew I was a slob.  I couldn’t go incognito if I wanted to!

Insert any one of a thousand pix here, as proof.

But, thank God, I’m on my way to recovery, and soon, I won’t be a slob anymore!  Then I’ll have to rename my blog, ” Purple Slob Recovered.”  Oh!  Won’t that be the day!!

Recovery 3 Ways

My health recovery has been going well lately.  Since I have changed my way of eating, I’ve lost 1 pant size, and 20 lbs.  (Major cause of celebration!!) Way more than that now, I wrote this June 18.

I’m able to walk around my apartment without my walker now.

Need a pic of me on walker, but I couldn’t find one.  (You already know my bad habit of forgetting to take before pics.)

But I still take it outside, just to be on the safe side!  I have tripped over my own feet, and lint on the floor, even when I was young and healthy!  So much better safe than sorry!

My physical recovery seems to be coinciding with recovering my home from slobbery.  That is very interesting to me.  People have told me before that messes make you crazy, but I pooh-poohed them.  Since I was already crazy, what did it matter?  But I’m finding out, it does.

Also. my spiritual health is improving.  I have been more faithful about reading my Bible,

My latest, and newest favorite

My latest, and newest favorite

and I have more peace now.  That is something I never would have believed, if I hadn’t experienced it for myself.

I’m shooting for the goal of becoming a minimalist, I guess.  That is something I never would have imagined coming outta my mouth, or fingers rather.

But I am finding that the more stuff I let go, the lighter I feel.  And feeling lighter is translating to my actual body…  I’m becoming physically lighter.  And my home is so much more “homier”  when I can actually use all of it, without a major excavation everytime!

I’ve let go of stuff.  I’ve let go of bad things, that I used to put in my body.    I’ve let go of some attitudes, and sins that were weighing down my soul.

We are made up of 3 parts, body, soul, and spirit.  It’s amazing how working on one part, has me working on the other parts.

God is so good to me.  Don’t wait till your life is half over, to begin recovery.  It’s real work, but it’s really worth the effort.

Update:  July 9, 2015

I’m totally off my walker now.  I have 2 legs! not 6!

My total weight loss to date is 41 pounds!!  I’m so over the moon thrilled!!  And all because I quit eating doughnuts!  lol ( and all other gluten products, and most sugar, and corn, and ……)

But mostly doughnuts!  😉

Dana’s Doings

Another golden oldie from Nony’s blog.
melinda says:

I just googled “Cleaning blogs”. And yours is still # 2! as of 1 am Sunday, July 13, 2014.
Just discovered your blog recently. Where have you been all my life? Either we r soul mates, or identical twin sisters, separated at birth! I love reading your thoughts. |They echo mine! And like you, I thought I (and my sister) were the only ones!! I truly thank God for you. What a huge blessing you are to me, and so many others. Please, keep it up!

  • Nony, Dana White in real life, answered my comment!
  • I was sooooo stoked when I read her answer!  This was about a month before I started PurpleSlob.
  • I was binge reading ASlobComesClean, for inspiration.
  • And boy, did I ever find it!  She knew me!  She “got” me!  She was just like me!
  • I had found my tribe!  Everyone on that site was so supportive, because they were in the throes of their own mess.
  • slob, humor, mess

My personal mess, well, one of them! And not just my mess, to be fair (to me!!) it’s PP’s mess!
