Heather’s Handiwork

Heather from Crazy With Love nominated me for a Sunshine Blog Award.  But, she did it so sneakily, I ended up nominating myself!  Go read it, and you’ll see what I mean!

(Be prepared to be snagged.  She’ll do it, too!!   Muahwawahaha)

sunshine blog award

Here’s the why come:

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers who are inspiring and bring sunshine into the lives of their readers and fellow bloggers… to bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere… is a way for bloggers to get to know each other and also get other bloggers to link to their website.

I’m copying this next part directly from Heather:

To the ever evolving revolving-door of rules:

(Isn’t she funny??  YES!!)

1. Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post.

Thank you, Heather!!  I think one reason I like her so much is, she’s crazy like me!  And revels in it!  If you’re gonna be crazy, might as well enjoy it, I say!

2. Answer the 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.

Heather didn’t ask me any questions, I guess because she was so busy congratulating herself on so handily avoiding having to pick just 11 other bloggers!   Well played, Heather!

And this next part is also copied straight from Heather’s post:

This chiquita banana isn’t playing favorites. There are only so many hours in my day, probably in your day too, that I can spend reading. So if I follow your blog, guess what, I read it and I like it. And if you have had the insane patience to read all of this and find yourself here (X marks the spot) I officially nominate you because you deserve an award for trudging through my nonsense. Paste, glue, staple, or tape your blog link in the comments zone so other crazy campers can check you out.     (See why I like her so much???  So much in fact, that I ❤ her!)

So, join in on the crazy fun!  I dare ya!

Oh yeah, questions….

Hmmmm…

What is your ring tone?

Are you old enough to know what the AV club was, in high school?

How do you eat your peas?  Fork?

CAn you tell this is a fork? Ok, quit focusing on the huge bald head!

You guessed it, the spoon

(hopefully not with your toes!!  But hey, it’s your food, not mine!)  In the mashed potatoes??

Disclaimer: Real peas were hurt in the making of this post.  It was horrible, they were masticated to death.  So cruel.

Who let the dogs out?  (Now you know how old I am!  But seriously, Who?  I wanna know!  Whenever I ask people, all they do is echo-sing the question, then do that owl hoo, hoo thing back at me.)

Corduroy or fleece?

Mountains or molehills?

Solar or lunar?

(What does that even MEAN??)

What other questions should I ask?

(That was 9.  This is brutal!)

What color is your can opener??  I’m serious!  I wanna know!

(I just had to ditch my purple one, cuz it    wait for it    didn’t open cans!!!  I almost cried!!

purple can opener

But, it’s PURPLE!!!

Do you separate your laundry by colors?  Or just wash it all together?   (If you do it by color, and shudder type of fabric, we may not be able to continue our friendship.  I warn you, you’re on probation!!)

Okay, now, the baton’s been passed to you… run, Forrest, run!!

Charity Chair

I have a gorgeous dining room set.  (Well, it will be once it’s all purple instead of green!)  I love the curves of the legs, and the airiness of the glass top.

dinette chairs(Please ignore all the clutter on the table, it was invisible to me until now.  Just play along, and no one gets hurt, capese?)

But I had a serious problem occur.  One of the chairs broke a leg.  How it did this, when I didn’t even know it went out running, I’ll never know.  Nevertheless, here it is, in it’s sad state.

broken chair leg

Poor thing, needs a cast.

broken dinette chair leg

So very tragic.

I wanted to put it out of its misery, like a horse, but how do you kill a chair??  So, I put it out by the road.  Fortunately, my SIL saw it, and questioned me.  He whisked it away in his ambulance van, and returned it to me the next morning, with its leg whole!  Miraculously, he knew a chair leg doctor that worked for thank yous from a sweet, blonde, (PP) baby.  Welded it up, and good to go!

Thank you SIL!!!!

welded chair leg

Better than new. I DARE it to break now!

Now, it’s on restriction, and forbidden to go out running ever again.  Next time, I’ll tie its feet together.

“Even in laughter the heart may sorrow, And the end of mirth may be grief. ”   Proverbs 14:13  NKJV  Holy Bible

PurpleSlob sad face

broken heart

Yes, even more laughter, then grief.

Life isn’t all fun and games.  We experience laughter, joy, and then sorrow and grief.  Sometimes at the same time.  And it’s okay, because we’re human.  And humans have messy emotions.  Messy, glorious emotions!!  Thank God we’re not robots!!

So, I guess I’m supposed to torture pick more peeps now.  Watch out, followers!  I’m coming for you!

Judy’s Jottings

{Sorry, Janice, for taking your title!}

Judy from Edwina’s Episodes has challenged me to a quote battle frolic.  She is such a funny blogger.  She makes light of her foibles in everyday life.  And did I mention, she’s funny?

Thanks Judy!

Criss Cross

Did you chant, “Criss cross, applesauce, hands in your lap”??  Well, if you didn’t I know you’re not a Kg or Pre-K teacher!

Anyway: on to the post:

Another benefit of weight loss I can cross my legs now!  Woot woot!  If you’ve never been fat, you’re so blessed!  And also, you don’t know the struggle!

Cross ’em to the left:

crossed legs to the left

I can cross my legs!!

Look Ma, no hands!  Cross ’em to the right:

crossed legs to the right

They even cross the OTHER way!!

I don’t have a pic of uncrossed legs.  Wait! I just might be able to find one!

{hunt, hunt, hunt,  grumble, “No, not that one..”  click, click, click, mutter mutter mutter, “Why didn’t I take pix of my legs when I was fat??  Oh, yeah, I hated how I looked.”

What a change in only 6 short months!!  It’s like Christmas every day now!!  What a huge difference in my health now.

Sometimes, I just sit and cross and uncross my legs for 15 minutes at a time, just celebrating that I can!!  My friends are probably getting tired of hearing about it.  “Listen, have I told you how I can cro..”

Friends:  “Yeah, Melinda we KNOW. You can cross your legs now.  Could you please talk about something else????”

“Hey, did I tell you how much weight I’ve lost by changing my way of eating??

Friends:  “Groan.”

Max’s Memo

I’m so surprised to be nominated for another Sunshine Award!  This is so cool, that people feel I bring sunshine into their world!  I hope I do to yours as well.

sunshine blogger award

Thanks, InspiringMax!

The Rules:

  •  Thank the person/people who nominated you
  • Answer the eleven questions from your nominator(s)
  • Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions to answer.

Questions given to me:

  1. Where is your favorite place you have lived?

Plant City, Fl.  I was born there, and will always consider it home, because both my Granny, and my Grandma, lived there till they died.

strawberry

Plant City, FL The Winter Strawberry Capital of the World

If you could change one thing what would it be?

This is hard.  Before March, I would have said my weight.  Before a year ago August, I would have said my slobbishness.  Before June, I would have said owning my own home.  Now, hmmmm, I would change America back to a Christian country.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

My Mama hugging me.

What is your dream job?

Being a proofreader.  And now I get to do that every time I write a post! Yay!  I just don’t get paid. 😦

What was your best subject at school?

Reading.  Wonder why???

4 journals

4 of 6 journals

Do you prefer to live in the country or the city?

Oh, definitely country-ish.  I don’t want to live in the middle of a million people, but I don’t want to have to drive 5 miles to even get to the road, either!  I like exactly where I am.  And that’s a nice place to be!

If you were stranded on a desert island which celebrity would you take with you?

A celebrity?  Hmmm, maybe Tim Tebow, so we could talk about Jesus.

Everyone has a song that makes them want to dance, what is yours?

Everybody Get Up and Dance Now!

Favorite colour?

I’ll let my readers answer this one. Y’all know it!

make all things purple

YES!! Please!!

Do you prefer camping, caravaning or staying in motels?

Motels, by a landslide.  I hated camping as a kid.  My brother would run his finger along the canvas right on top of my head.  Yuck!!  Drip, drip.  He invented water boarding!

How many different careers have you had?

Umm, not paying ones?  Or only counting when I got paid?  Non paying; about 15.  (babysitter for my siblings, piano player at church, professional serial dater in college, clown, Grammar Nazi, etc.)  Paying: only about 7.  (retail sales, McDonald’s, transport for hospital, teacher, sub teacher, mentor/tutor, call center.  Oh yeah, 8- my 2 day career as a nanny.  54 is TOO OLD to watch 3 in diapers!!)

.

(I know the numbers are messed up. It did that when I added the pix.  And I’m gonna leave them like that, because I’m not gonna be OCD today.)
