Buh-Bye, Burgundy!

Well, how many times have I written about my car needing repairs?   Only Once??  Really???   That’s weird, I sure moaned, and groaned, and complained about it a lot!

My Crown Vic was red, so I named her Burgundy.

My Burgundy. Ain’t she a good looking red head?

She had a heart of gold, and a strong work ethic.   But even hard workers eventually wore out!   Bless her heart, she sprung a leak in her intake manifold.   Every 20 miles we went, I had to stop and refill her with 2 gallons of water.   (Yes, I know you’re supposed to use antifreeze.   But who could afford 2 gallons several times a day????   Not me!!)

And because of the scooter on the back, her shocks went out.   That meant, even the smallest dip made us scrape bottom.   Metal screeching is NOT my favorite sound!!

And oh yeah, did I mention- no AIR??   In FLORIDA???   Where summer temps go into the high 90’s??   ALL day long???

Alrightey then, I think we’ve well established that poor Burgundy needed to be put out to pasture.   But then, what would I do for a car??   I didn’t have the money to get one.   Nor the credit.   And I certainly didn’t have the $2000 to fix Burgundy!   I was well and truly in a fix!

Dun, dun DUN!!!   My wonderful Sis rode to the rescue!   She had very recently bought herself a newer vehicle, and couldn’t figure out how to drive 2 at once.   So, we were both looking for solutions to our problems, at the exact same time!   And, miraculously, the solution for both of our problems was the same!!!    So, she is letting me buy her van, on payments.   Low payments.   God is so good!

But, that still left me with the quandary of coming up with the tax, tag, and title cash.   I pondered, and pondered.   {Thinking is hard!!   It makes my head hurt!!}   Finally, at 11:30 pm, it hit me!   Sell Burgundy!!    So, I listed it immediately on Craig’s list.   20 minutes later, I got a text, “Is the Crown Vic still available?”   I started laughing.   “Yes, but text me tomorrow after 8 am.”   I needed some sleep!!

DD1 borrowed Burgundy for an appointment, so I told the guy not to come until 1 pm.   Long story short, he gave me cash and drove off with my car!   Hallelujah!!

Within 30 minutes of waving goodbye to Burgundy,

Buh-bye, Burgundy!!

I was in the Plant City tax collector’s office, paying to register my new van.    (I don’t know her name yet.   Mama suggested “Silver”.   But I had already had a van we named Silver, so no go.   Even more pondering.   Ouch!)

Now, I have a beautiful vehicle, that works wonderfully, needs no repairs, I can afford it, and has AIR!!!   Did I mention it has AIR???

And Sis no longer has to struggle with trying to drive 2 vehicles at once!

Happiness reigns all around.

  1. Solutions not problems…clearly I need to bioengineer a sibling 🤔

One could punt out the obvious name for the newbie….Vanessa or Vanity…which suits as I can make out prime requisite was air…which is free if you wind the windows down but one suspects this is air conditioning and therefore cool air as opposed to free hot air…which is a nice lead into these forms of dialogue…lots of hot air and jibber jabber….

Vanonica? Wee change to Veronica…just thinking aloud…van-storming if you do so like.

I should really go do something constructive methinks 🤔

    • You make me laugh, Gary! thanks! My liver needed that massage!
You definitely need to get on that bioengineering the sibling thing. They are priceless! (Why is bioengineering NOT a word??? According to that pompous red line.)
Oh yes, the free air was not worth the price I paid!
      Vanonica is a possibility….
Van-storming! I love the way your mind works!
(Are you single?? JK! Only if you’re married!)

      • That is my mission…to spread smiles and occasional mirth…it mostly fails but nevertheless the mission lives on….it is a word….it’s just sometimes these spells checking things are a bit less clever than they make out..especially auto-incorrect…that beast is most foul indeed…I am now pondering names…is this van female? I think I presumed it was but in modern times that’s a shade sexist…me single….in my mind all the time 🙃

      • You’re single in your mind all the time??? lol
Yes, she’s female. All my cars are. You know how men hate to be driven anywhere! Therefore, female cars.
You are fulfilling your mission admirably!!
Oh, auto-correct- surely one of Satan’s minions!
I loved Vanronica! I think that just might be it!

      • I am until writing something….then my head gets crowded with voices…it’s why I have terrible antagonists…when it’s their turn it all goes quiet and relaxing apart from the creepy silence of everyone else keeping a low profile in case it’s looking for victims 🙃
I may go a bit quiet this weekend and write some new post thingamies…although there’s a meet and greet going on 🤔

Decisions…decisions…. I think Vanonica roles of the tongue smoother…although the Verity alternative Vanity I thought was a cool word play 😁

      • I know what you mean. Those pesky voices can be so loud and boisterous!
I’m trying to teach them to just get along!
BBFF Janice’s meet and greets are legendary!!
Alas, I have to skip it too. So busy sewing my daughter’s quilt. If I don’t have it done to hand to her Friday, I’m afraid I’ll be demoted from Mom to menial!
        I’ve definitely decided on Vanronica.
Your van-streaming was valuable to the naming process!
Look for your participation ribbon in the mail! (e-mail) as soon as I know what it is!

      • I often wonder how scizophrenics feel…might be authors have issues in this area 🤔

My email is on my contacts page…or it should be along with Facebook and Twitter info….best check methinks…or move it to the about page…not sure….I like menus and I only have two 🤕
So glad to be of service in the naming of the new automobile….go air con 🙃

      • Don’t go trying to work it out…I did and all it does is make you think you’ve got everything…although I discounted plague…that I just could not justify 🤔

      • One would never change the name….not after the rather quirky selection process…is it bad luck to rename a vehicle do you think…I never pondered that until now 🤔

        Liked by 1 person

      • Well, since this is the first time I’ve know the previous name, I have no idea.
BTW, since Vanronica is my most valuable asset, aside from my collection of purple T-shirts, my girls might try to contest my will. On the topic of being in unsound mind, they may have a strong case. Just be prepared!

      • New owner perogative clause perhaps? Renaming is not unduly detrimental and suggest a new beginning for automobile and owner. Best err on the superstition rule…don’t change it lest it upsets the apple cart..not that I ever owned an apple cart to witness such upsetting but I imagine it would be a shade annoying 🤔 Obviously, family first but on the off chance it would not be eagerly wanted…..

      • Apple cart upsetting is a roundly rolling mess! 😉
Well, it has your name written on it, so perhaps they won’t want it after GARY’s is blazened across it in 3 foot high letters! 😉

      • I imagine it would be and not too good for the apples..unless cider making was on the cards 🤔

Ooh, what colours would these letters be….I imagine they could set things off quite nicely 👻

      • Hmm difficult…I like midnight blues, black goes without saying although silver might work or a blend of the three in some arty fashion or another 🤔
