Ok, (deep breath) I’m finally ready to announce it!!

Squeeeee!! I own my own name!! And it’s live!! Finally!!
My morning is starting off right!!
Announcing my move!!
SO excited, are we??
Just a tad!
I’ll leave this site up, for now. At least until I have it all moved over. Then, not sure. But move on over, and see my new place!! Promise you’ll be glad ya did!!
If you close down this site ALL your prior links all over the web will be broken (including links from all your comments). It might not be a bad idea to leave it here, duplicate only the posts you really want on the new site, put all of the new posts there, and link them both to each other so that you don’t have to start ALL over community building.
In any case, congratulations on your new home and best wishes that you learn to “drive” it quickly.
xx,

Thanks so much, Madelyn! Linking them both is a great idea!
I hope I learn to “drive” it quickly too!! That’s why I’ve put it off so long, trying to get it working right!

I relate! That’s why I’m still on the dot com platform.

I would have stayed for awhile longer, I guess. But they were just so rude, telling me I was out of storage space! 😉

I purchase the upgrade every year – it is simply quicker.
I MAY add a self-hosted site so I can monetize, extending my reach without working myself into an early grave for lack of plug-ins here, but as long as the Gremlins don’t “improve” the platform beyond usability for me I’ll probably leave my blog on WP dot com.
Eventually, if things continue as they seem to be going, the tipping point will come when the cost/benefit ratio no longer makes sense for me. Again, it’s the time TIME factor, as I now spend substantially more time on shorter articles than it took me to get longer ones up when I began on this platform.
I doubt the coders ever use the platform – sometimes I wonder if they even READ any of the blogs before deciding that they know what features we need and which they will get rid of. 😦
A real shame, too, because WordPress was so GOOD when I first began my blog.

Yeah, it sure seemed lots easier before!

They’ve removed many of the things I formerly relied upon — like an easy way to supply link descriptions without time-consuming coding, being able to jump to the old editor without work-arounds — and more.
At the same time they’ve come up with, for example, that new editor – which is a train wreck! Slow, buggy, practically impossible to apply certain formatting code – I could go on, but oh why?

😦 I don’t think I will ever learn how to code!

The reason I CHOSE WordPress was because we weren’t *supposed* to have to code. Bait and switch? 😦

Feels like it to me!!
Sorry this is so late. Too much going on!

No such thing as “late” to an ADDer with no sense of time – lol. Happy Holidays – take time to enjoy what matters.

Thanks, Madelyn!!
Have you gone over to my new site?
http://www.purpleslobinrecovery.com
WP has locked me out of this one. All I can do is answer comments.

GOOD LORD! I didn’t realize they’d lock you out of a free site. So sorry to here that. I’ll take a trip to the new site in the AM – it’s 3AM here and I’m still recovering, so I’m off to bed.

Yeah, I was pretty mad at the lock out. Now we’re friends again, tho. WP is very crotchety!
I’ll be glad to see you there, anytime!

Sounds like you just got force fed a big spoonful of the down side of management through metrics and algorithms — i.e., “If this happens, do THIS automatically.”
The b-schools teach that automation is the growth-positive “quick” way to do things – but that way also creates a plethera of oopses that take A LOT of time to clean up, and people with the power to undo what was done.
Meanwhile, folks hate you and spread the word, fomenting irritation to anger to fury in those who hear the stories. CAN’T be a good business model!
Glad you’re back online and able to work.

Yep! Force fed is a great way to put it!
Not of my choosing! Thanks!! I hope to get everything the way I want it someday.
Ha!! We’ll see if THAT ever happens!

If it’s a WordPress format site, you can add a SumoMe plugin, so people can reblog and share your posts 🙂
