Doing Dishes

Yes, another dish post.  But!  This is not the usual whining “Oh why oh why are my dishes dirty AGAIN???” post.

Nope.  This one might shock some of you.  So, hang onto your hats!  Here we go!

According to the Bible, I wash dishes like a MAN!   What???  Yup!

Guttenberg Bible

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Guttenberg Bible

“And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.”
See?  I do that, cuz I don’t trust my washing skills!   So, since I do dishes like a man, does that mean I can wait for someone else to do them?????   (Sorry guys if that hurt, just calling like I see ’em, from my VAST experience. lol  Except XH, I must say, he was very good to me about doing the dishes when I was depressed, or disabled- AFTER he retired, that is!)
So, I guess now I’m gonna have to go take a pic, so you can see for yourself.  Oh ACK! That means doing dishes, again!  I already washed my cup, bowl, and spoon from breakfast.  Can you believe it??  The day I need to document myself washing dishes, and I don’t have any dirty ones!!   So annoying!  Actually, I’m very proud of myself, that that is true!!!  Woo hoo, me!!  I think I need to go celebrate!!

pink balloons

I couldn’t find any purple ones. 😦

Okay, back from the party.  (That was fun!!)
Now to go see if I can take my own pic of me washing dishes upside down.   I’ll be sure and let you know how it goes!

College Collective

It was always assumed we 3 kings kids would go to college.   Were you breathing?   Yes, sir.  Do you intend to remain in that condition following graduation?   Yes, sir.   Then you’re going to college.    (Maybe it was never stated verbally, but trust me: it was implicit in their eyes, whenever it was time for report cards!)

Also assumed, was WHAT college, A BIBLE college, for course.   And WHICH Bible college was therefore predestined: Southeastern Bible College of the Assemblies of God.   (We called ourselves SCAGites, isn’t that a lovely image???)   By the time Brother got there, (AFTER I graduated in 1983, Sister in 1993, and MAMA {Go, MAMA!!} in 2003) it was SEU, Southeastern University.   We’d come a long way, baby!   AS you can tell, since he’s older than Sis, he’d taken a detour on the way there.   Barely survived till then too, since our dad nearly skinned him alive for declaring. “I don’t WANT to go to college.  I’ll be happy as a manual laborer.   {Aha! NOW I remember why we called him Manuel!}

Anyway, now where was I???   Oh yeah, college.   No wonder my mind wanders, that was a LONG time ago!    (Since you know what year it is, do the math.   If you don’t know what year it is, it’s okay, we still love you.)

So, I dutifully went to college.  I really loved school, so I was looking forward to it.   AND bonus; I got to live in the dorm!!!!   Woo hoo!! Par-TAY time!!   All my  life I had been a good church girl.   Well…. mostly!   I was still a virgin, never did drugs, (Unless you count caffeine!) and obeyed my parents (usually).   I didn’t even sass back…. unless you count eye rolls, and tongue sticking-out-behind-their-back, which they ALWAYS totally busted me on!   How do mothers DO that??   ( I found out when I became a Mom.   It’s a superpower God gives Moms.)   So, anyhoo, I was looking forward to the freedom of being on my own.   Yeah, right!!   SEBC  thought they were our parents!   Just without the Mom superpowers.

So, I did a few minor infractions, but stayed on the Honor Roll.   But the school never gave out 5 dollar bills, like the REAL parents did!!

PurpleSlob college boyfriend

Me, (YES, really me! 3 decades ago)

(Allen C, my senior year boyfriend, and I at my Senior Banquet.   I pretended this was our wedding photo!!   What??  He had on a tux, and I had on a white dress!!  I had a vivid imagination, yes!)

When I graduated, cum laude, thank you very much, I knew I was gonna be a teacher, till I met Mr. Right, got married, had babies, and never work again.    OOOOhhhh, my sides hurt from making myself laugh so hard at THAT one!!!  Being a parent is the HARDEST job in the world!!   Followed closely by being a teacher.

Okay, now I’ve totally lost my entire train of thought for this post….

Something about going to college and meeting boys, was what I originally thought I was gonna write about.   Oh, well.  Hope you enjoyed this peek into the past!

Next time I’ll try to stick to the point!

Merry “Christ”mas

Enjoy your Christmas time, and I hope you celebrate Jesus Christ the Lord.

Jeffery’s journey

This is in memorium of my brother-in-law, Jeffery Watson.

I don’t like writing in all red, but that’s his favorite color.

He went to heaven on Oct. 3, 2015.  My sister, Michelle, and my nephew, Nick, my 2 nieces, Kristen, and Jaime are all devastated.  They know they will never see him again.  On this EARTH.  However, they will see him again, in heaven, as long as they live a righteous life in Christ Jesus.

My sister wrote this, after he’d been gone 9 days.   She wants to share it with the world, in hopes that someone else will come to faith in Christ Jesus, by the witness of Jeffery’s life.

God is Good all the time. Jeffery was healed and rescued many times. Here are the times I know.
1. The first few years of his life, Jeffery was hospitalized with double pneumonia during the Christmas season.
2. At age 2, one time after church, in a park with a lake, he disappeared in the Lake. Dad dove in still in his good suit and boots (?).
3. Very young, he was poisoned with Vick’s vapor rub. It was so bad the doctors told Mom & Dad to call the funeral home and plan his funeral. A local church came and prayed with them.
4. Another tubing trip he slipped thru the inner tube and was submerged. Dad pulled him out then too.
5. At age 3 (?) He was trapped upstairs when the kitchen caught on fire. Only because the Lord had Mom glance at the house in time to have Dad run in and pull him and Karla Flak out of the house.
6. He had an accident with a knife that could have killed him.
7. He had an accident in South Carolina with a trash truck. (not Jeffery’s fault). But his quick thinking slowed him down and only totaled his dodge pick-up. He was bruised. The trash truck leaked fuel, but the fire marshal driving behind him was able to shut it off.
8. So many dirt bike accidents I know about, and some I don’t know about. I know he landed in a tree at least once. He landed in a gulley at least once.
9. Jeffery had acute pain when he went to Garland,TX for work training. The walk in clinic told him to stop eating rich foods, he was fine. Jeffery finally drove himself to the ER Friday morning to discover he had to have emergency gall bladder surgery. The Dr said he stopped counting, but 100 was mentioned. The next day, he had to have emergency secondary surgery to remove some that migrated and blocked his bile ducts.
10. One last time, he had an accident with a semi and dodge charger, and God said, “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

(His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithfulservant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’  Matthew 25:21  New King James Version, Holy Bible)

I will miss you. I will see you again. My hope is this: because of your death, someone else will make a relationship with Christ so they may hear those same words.

(16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.   John 3:16  New King James Version, Holy Bible)

PurpleSlob sad face

broken heart

Yes, even more laughter, then grief.

Life isn’t all fun and games.  We experience laughter, joy, and then sorrow and grief.  Sometimes at the same time.  And it’s okay, because we’re human.  And humans have messy emotions.  Messy, glorious emotions!!  Thank God we’re not robots!!

So, I guess I’m supposed to torture pick more peeps now.  Watch out, followers!  I’m coming for you!

Answer the questions set to you.
Nominate around ten bloggers.
Create your set of questions for your nominees.

Lady Sunshine’s questions for me :

1. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?

I’ve had several nicknames throughout my life.  One was Mel, when I was going thru my rebellious, “I hate my name” stage.  Then in 8th grade, I named myself Mindy.  Now of course, I’m “Purple Slob”.

2. What books on your shelf are begging to be read?

My Bible.  I try to always read it every day.  I say try.  And, I have a book, “Season of Angels” , Debbie Macomber that I’m wanting to read.

3.What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep? Toss and Turn? Try to get up and do something productive?

Sometimes I get up and read, or get on FB.  Sometimes I eat!  Bad me, bad me!

⁴. How many days could you last in solitary confinement? How would you do it?

I think I could last awhile, if I had books, and paper and pen.  Maybe some crayons, and coloring book.   But, they are gonna feed me, right???
5. When making an entrance in to a party, do you make your presence known? Do you slip in and look for someone you know? Do you sneak in quietly and find a safe spot to roost?

Oh, I definitely make my presence known!  I am a big time par-tay girl!  Love to be the center of attention!!
6. What is your strongest sense? If you had to give one up, which would it be?

I think seeing would be my strongest, even though I need glasses now! lol  Hmmmm, if I had to give one up??

I guess I’d choose smelling to let go of.  I would never want to be blind, or deaf, or unable to feel.

Now, I get to ask the questions.  Sunshine gave me such thought provoking ones, I need to dig deep to come up with some great ones, too!

My questions for y’all:

  1. Boxers or briefs?  Not really, I just couldn’t resist.  DO NOT ANSWER THIS!!
  2. Which is more important to you in a relationship, looks or personality?
  3. How did you decide to start blogging?
  4. What is your definition of Brotherhood?
  5. How do you define happiness?
  6. Are you a slob, or a cleanie?
  7. What was the name of your first childhood pet, and what was it?
  8. Who is your favorite relative?
  9. And why?

Love/Hate Challenge

Beautiful Himali, from decodinghappyness has nominated me for a challenge.

                                      Love – Hate !

  • List 10 things that you hate.
  • Nominate fellow bloggers to take the challenge.

love-over-hate1

So, here goes:

LOVES:

  1.  Jesus/God/Holy Spirit  (They’re the same, 3 persons in 1 Godhead.)
  2. My husband, DH
  3. My 2 daughters, DD1, DD2
  4. My grand baby, Pudding Pop
  5. Mamafirst established
  6. My family; nuclear, first established , this established, and extended
  7. PURPLE!!!  (Y’all knew that one was coming, right??)
  8. Losing weight
  9. The Bible
  10. Blogging, my new addiction

Hates:  Hmmmm, this is harder.

  1.  Bad grammar, especially in a love letter.  In 8th grade, I red-lined all my boyfriend’s love letters, and sent them back for editing!  Yes, I really did!  The gall!
  2. Long hair, on me.  I whack it off every chance I get.  When my girls were in Elementary school, I even shaved my head, much to their chagrin, and Mama’s horror!
  3. Shaving my legs.  Enough said.
  4. Abortion.  This is serious, I just couldn’t be all funny, without speaking up for the unborn.  They are precious little lives, no matter what stage of gestation.
  5. Frustation!  I’m not the most techie person in the world, so I get upset when I can’t just do what I want to do!  Why don’t I have a computer I can just speak to, and it instantly does my bidding????  WHY????
  6. Not having a sarcasm font.  I’ve asked for it enough times.  Someone should have invented this already!!
  7. Green. Yuck!
  8. Sushi.  Just the thought of it makes me queasy.  Believe me, I’ve eaten my share of stuff, so let me slide, okay?  Thanks!
  9. Running out of ice… and since I live alone, this would be the fault of ?????
  10. When I don’t get a nap.  So does everyone around me hate when this happens!!  (Can you say Grumpy?  I thought you could.)

Okay, so there’s that, then.  Onto the nominations.  And the awards go to:
