Twin Twist

My friend Kristen C, yes, the cleanie!  made a huge announcement on her blog last Thurs.   She’s pregnant!!   I am so happy for her and Jerrod!   and wait for it…… they’re having twins!!

I knew those 2 crazy-in-love kids before they WERE even Kristen & Jerrod!!    When they announced their engagement, I was in shock!    What???    How did this happen??     They didn’t even hold hands in church.    He didn’t even put his arm around her!!    How was I supposed to know they were serious???

But they have so much in common, and are so cute together!!     After they got married, I started praying for them to have a baby.    When Kristen shared their infertility struggles, that gave me the information of how to pray specifically for them.

And now, their dreams of a baby are coming true, twice as nice!!    God answered our prayers in a huge way!!

Watching this journey thru her pregnancy, and then the babies growing is gonna be so much fun!!

Yikes!    I just thought of something- 2 more quilts needed!!     Relax!!!     I’ll be all done with my present queue by the end of May, and the twins aren’t due until end of August!     I got this covered!

(Not their quilt, just a previous one I made.)

Ya know what??    If I was really smart, I’d make the baby quilts, just as soon as they tell people which one the babies are, the pinks or the blues.    Oops, I mean the pinks or the boys.    Oops, I mean, the girls or the boys!    The twins are identical, so how fun is that gonna be to dress them just alike!!!     gets lost in a baby clothes buying daydream for days……….

Sewing Sew Sew

What have I gotten myself into now??  I just finished the nieces baby quilt last, last, last Thursday (3 ago).  Now here I am starting ANOTHER quilt??  (For my Sister-in-law, Shirley- ya know, the one I promised Brother last January???)  Am I crazy??  (Well, that’s already well established, no need to answer!)

AND!!!!  I’m planning to do a Thanksgiving dress for PP!!!!!   I AM INSANE!!!

Just purchased the Thanksgiving material, (and Christmas too, if I MUST confess) for PP, on Veteran’s Day.

It was on sale!!  60% off the harvest, and 50% off Christmas!!  With a 40% off coupon!!!  I HAD to buy it!! Right then!!

(Even though I had to borrow the money, totally worth it!! to me, anyway!!)

I’m gonna be busier than “2 squirrels in a wool sock”!  (Thanks, Cindy D. for that saying!)

Shirley did come over and cut up all the squares, which I can’t do.  (Remember that pesky little wreck, back in February??

Boy, I do.  Every time I try to use my left arm!)

Here they are, in all their freshly cut glory:

Gorgeous colors!  Brother picked them out, and he’s color blind!  Kudos to him!

Here is the material for PP’s Thanksgiving dress.  I just love these turkeys!!  Who could resist such cuteness??

cartoon turkey material

And I’m going to!

And ta-da!  Behold the Christmas dress raw materials.  PP picked these out herself!!  What an eye!

Oops!  I forgot to take that pic, again!  Bad slogger, bad slogger!   Meantime, please enjoy this lovely

Pic of Jackie and JFK, in their Christmas outfits.   Off to take that pesky pic!   (Unless I forget again….)

Okay, so now I gotta chain myself to the machine again!  Hope I get let off for Thanksgiving dinner!  (Well, that will probably depend on how fast I get the turkey dress done!!)  If you don’t hear from me in about a week, please send food and water!!

Graphically Gross

WARNING:  The following picture is graphically gross!  If you’re squeamish, cover your eyes, and chant rhythmically to yourself: “Lalalalala, I can’t SEE you!!”

smashed roach

Roach squooshed in my hand.

This is the “after”.  I did the deadly deed in the bathroom.  With my hand.  By PurpleSlob.  (Anybody catch the “Clue”??)

Okay, you can look now. All clear.

I know you think, (at least I THINK you think) it’s gross that I squoosh roaches with my hands.  In my defense:

  1.  My hands are washable.  Sterilizable, even.
  2.  Inexplicably, the roaches never respond to my shouted demands requests to sit still while I run and go get a shoe with which to annihilate them.
  3.  A dead roach in the hand is worth much more to me than a hundred running around behind my back, especially running around in front of my back!
  4.  I don’t carry a can of bug spray on my person at all times.  It interferes with my swatting arm.
  5.  I honestly don’t mind bug guts on me.  It gives me such a sense of personal satisfaction to cream them, by my own “hand”iwork, that I kinda revel in the bloody evidence of a battle well won!

I guess I could try wearing a chatelaine,

chatelaine

and just add a heavy-duty fly flap, some of those suckers get huge!!  It would just have to have some sorta quick release mechanism.

Nah, it’d weigh me down too much.  Back to hand-to-roach combat for me.  Hoo-Rah!

So Slobby Sewing Space Sequel

Remember not long ago when I boasted about my superb sewing space?

Not changed at all

Not changed at all

Yeah…. not so much now.  😦

In the continuing effort to pare down, by purging, I gave up the nice big gray cabinet, which was wonderful for storage.  Purging  it caused a twinge of angst, but only a small one.

Then, Brother needed more room, so his ginormous bean bag somehow ended up in there.

Brother’s Ginormous Beanbag chair

Hmmmm, how exactly did that happen?    That thing is heavy!

Then someone gifted me with a huge bag of fabric for quilting.  Who could turn that down? Not I!

And just when the storage cabinet went away too.

Gray cabinet gone, gone

Gray cabinet gone, gone

Bad timing there!

So, once again it’s a slobby sewing space.  sigh  And here I had been breaking my arm, patting myself on the back that I was making progress.

So how much does it count to have gotten rid of 1 huge thing, when it put the whole room straight back into chaos again??  See how I blamed the cabinet’s absence for the mess, instead of admitting it was me?  Pretty slick, right?
