Title Time

Okay, now that I don’t have the girls full time anymore, and I can go back to being just “Omie”, instead of nanny, (which, YAY!! btw) I’m gonna get down and dirty, and clean my house!   {Which is about as down and dirty as it can get right now.   IF I’m wrong about that, and it CAN get downer and dirtier, I don’t even wanna know about it!!}

slob, humor, shuddering

My feelings exactly!!

OH really??   {eyebrow raised to the scalp}   I’ll believe it when I see it!!   With a today’s newspaper in the pic, to prove the time stamp please!!

Okay, I just might do that very thing, smarty pants!    But seriously, how long has it really been since I cleaned?  Only 6 or 7 weeks… right??

Try 70??!!

Nuh,uh!!   That’s over a year!   I’ve only been here in my newest place for 2,4…(having to employ both hands) 9 months!   So that can’t be!

Well, it certainly has been a L O N G time!!

I know.   But it’s hard for me to even have the energy to take a shower when I have the girls, never mind cleaning!!    Do you know you have to change dirty diapers at least every 2 hours???   And that the baby wants to be fed every 4??    And ya have to mix the formula, and the rice cereal…   And the toddler wants to be fed every 4 hours, and it takes 30 minutes to figure out what she wants to eat, but they are not ever the same hour??    I’m not telling the Mommies anything they don’t know, but some people might not, that’s why I’m here!    To tell ya, it’s work!!   Don’t EVER DARE ask a mommy, if they work!!!!   Raising kids is the hardest job on the planet!!   Okay, stepping down off my soap box now.

Where was I??   Oh yeah, yakking instead of cleaning…Ok. here we go!!

Twin Twist

My friend Kristen C, yes, the cleanie!  made a huge announcement on her blog last Thurs.   She’s pregnant!!   I am so happy for her and Jerrod!   and wait for it…… they’re having twins!!

I knew those 2 crazy-in-love kids before they WERE even Kristen & Jerrod!!    When they announced their engagement, I was in shock!    What???    How did this happen??     They didn’t even hold hands in church.    He didn’t even put his arm around her!!    How was I supposed to know they were serious???

But they have so much in common, and are so cute together!!     After they got married, I started praying for them to have a baby.    When Kristen shared their infertility struggles, that gave me the information of how to pray specifically for them.

And now, their dreams of a baby are coming true, twice as nice!!    God answered our prayers in a huge way!!

Watching this journey thru her pregnancy, and then the babies growing is gonna be so much fun!!

Yikes!    I just thought of something- 2 more quilts needed!!     Relax!!!     I’ll be all done with my present queue by the end of May, and the twins aren’t due until end of August!     I got this covered!

(Not their quilt, just a previous one I made.)

Ya know what??    If I was really smart, I’d make the baby quilts, just as soon as they tell people which one the babies are, the pinks or the blues.    Oops, I mean the pinks or the boys.    Oops, I mean, the girls or the boys!    The twins are identical, so how fun is that gonna be to dress them just alike!!!     gets lost in a baby clothes buying daydream for days……….

Sewing Sew Sew

What have I gotten myself into now??  I just finished the nieces baby quilt last, last, last Thursday (3 ago).  Now here I am starting ANOTHER quilt??  (For my Sister-in-law, Shirley- ya know, the one I promised Brother last January???)  Am I crazy??  (Well, that’s already well established, no need to answer!)

AND!!!!  I’m planning to do a Thanksgiving dress for PP!!!!!   I AM INSANE!!!

Just purchased the Thanksgiving material, (and Christmas too, if I MUST confess) for PP, on Veteran’s Day.

It was on sale!!  60% off the harvest, and 50% off Christmas!!  With a 40% off coupon!!!  I HAD to buy it!! Right then!!

(Even though I had to borrow the money, totally worth it!! to me, anyway!!)

I’m gonna be busier than “2 squirrels in a wool sock”!  (Thanks, Cindy D. for that saying!)

Shirley did come over and cut up all the squares, which I can’t do.  (Remember that pesky little wreck, back in February??

Boy, I do.  Every time I try to use my left arm!)

Here they are, in all their freshly cut glory:

Gorgeous colors!  Brother picked them out, and he’s color blind!  Kudos to him!

Here is the material for PP’s Thanksgiving dress.  I just love these turkeys!!  Who could resist such cuteness??

cartoon turkey material

And I’m going to!

And ta-da!  Behold the Christmas dress raw materials.  PP picked these out herself!!  What an eye!

Oops!  I forgot to take that pic, again!  Bad slogger, bad slogger!   Meantime, please enjoy this lovely

Pic of Jackie and JFK, in their Christmas outfits.   Off to take that pesky pic!   (Unless I forget again….)

Okay, so now I gotta chain myself to the machine again!  Hope I get let off for Thanksgiving dinner!  (Well, that will probably depend on how fast I get the turkey dress done!!)  If you don’t hear from me in about a week, please send food and water!!

Quazily Quilting

Okay, here it is Wed. night, and SURPRISE!    I’m not done.   (Anyone surprised?  Anyone????)

Feverishly, I have been quilting.  (Why can’t I find a “q” word for feverishly??   Possibly because I’m quazy, and it don’t exist.   Naaah, that can’t be it.)

Anyhoo, the front is looking good!

front of quilt

Pardon me, my knee.

And the back’s not too shabby itself!

The back doesn’t have the same diagonal patterns.  I wanted to change it up some, so it has 4 squares in a block.

Different, but still co-ordinated.

underside of quilt

Here’s the underside. Just had to show off those gorgeous seams!!

And look how perfectly those seams match:

mismatched seams

Oops! Editing FAIL.

Okay,  quit messing around!

Look how perfectly these seams match!!

perfectly matched seams

Aaaahhh! Perfection!

So, here it is :  the back is fini!!  Yay!  Can I get a communal big sigh of relief, please??  Thank you for your support!

Now, I have 2 whole days to finish the front and get it quilted.  Easy Peasy!  Just like Stella‘s comments!

(She’s a fellow seamstress, so just shamelessly plugging a friend’s site!)

SInce I’m off the chain for a few minutes, I’m gonna go get some food.  See ya tomorrow, with another update!  Same Bat time, same Bat channel!

Quickly Quietly Quilting

Update:  This is what the baby quilt looked like Monday evening at 9:38 pm.  (That’s when my bobbin ran out.  My arms were already yelling “Uncle”!!)  The top 4 rows are completed, and was attaching the fifth…

This is definitely a challenge: racing against the clock!!

baby quilt in progress

Starting to actually look like a quilt!

Uh, please overlook the mess in the background, as usual, I didn’t see it till now.  Don’t worry, fans, plenty of slobbery to go around!  The fount of post material is not in any danger of running dry!!

Just in case you have forgotten, or don’t know, this is the bobbin:

So, back to the sweatshop, uh, I mean the air conditioned factory of joy!!

Quilting Quietly

Disclaimer: This is NOT a sewing tutorial.  It’s a photo essay to document my quilting project, for my former sister-in-law.  Hi, Sheryl!  See, I really am working on it!!  (The baby shower is in 7 days, and the quilt has to be done, and WRAPPED by 2 pm.  I totally can do this!  Oh, I did mention this is for my niece’s baby, right?  Oh, you figured it out by it being my former sister-in-law’s daughter’s baby shower?  Oh, okay then.  I’ll just take off my Captain Obvious name tag now.)  The reason I do not claim it as a tutorial is, I don’t feel qualified as an expert.  But, I will be more than happy to show you everything I know.  Just don’t be upset when you get what you paid for!!

I haven’t been able to sew since my wreck in Feb., due to my injuries.  Graciously, Sheryl agreed to cut out the squares, if I’d sew them together.  WE make a great team!

Here goes the pictorial proof of project in process:

Sheryl did all this prep work.

Sheryl requested the diagonal patterns.   I can’t wait to finish it!  It’s made of flannel, so in addition to being so pretty, it’s sooo soft for the baby!

a blog.  What would she talk about?  Well, her house was a mess, and clutter had followed her to this place.

She hadn’t thought too much about messes, and clutter, what with all the excitement of Strawberry Grandbaby

Emilia_037being born.  Then the hospital, rehab, and therapy.

But, once she started thinking about it, that’s ALL Strawberry Girl could think about.

She was sick and tired of messes , and clutter.  Ranch Man was working hard, but all he could do is keep up with day to day stuff, feeding and caring for an invalid, semi-invalid, and a baby.

So, Strawberry Girl made up her mind to clean up her own messes, and clutter, and document the process.

She found other blogs that inspired her, so she began.

At first, all she could do is sweep under the high chair.

Broom_(PSF)

Then, she would sit down exhausted.  Of course, her fingers weren’t tired!  Just her back, and legs, and arms, so she could write her blog posts.

Gnome-system

And so she wrote, and wrote, and wrote.

and got pregnant. Everyone was so happy that a Strawberry Grandbaby was on the way!

But, all was not well.  Strawberry Girl, and Ranch Man had been having problems.  So, Strawberry Girl and Strawberry Giant Daughter moved out to their own place.

A month later, the Strawberry Grandbaby was born to much fanfare!!

450px-Drapeaux_fanfare_viarmesEmilia_037

Strawberry Girl, and Strawberry Giant Daughter were so thrilled!

Finally, Strawberry Girl was an Omie, grand mother, her second life long ambition, after being a mother!

She did everything for Strawberry Giant Daughter, and  Strawberry Grandbaby.

After 10 months, Strawberry Girl was so tired, and worn out, she didn’t know what to do.  Strawberry Giant Daughter had gone back to work, and taking care of a baby, and the house had exhausted Strawberry Girl.

One day, she was at a friend’s house, so unattentive to what she was doing, she tripped over something in the hall, and fell.

PAIN!!

A frantic call to 911.  Paramedics, firemen, confusion.
