Normative Norwex

Remember in Party Prep, I said more about DD1’s party to come?

Well here it is!!

Her party was for launching her Norwex business.       (FYI: she signed up under our friend, Kristen.     Yeah, the twins’ mama!)

What’s that??      Don’t know what Norwex is??

slob, humor, Norwex box

Not the actual product!   Just the box her kit came in!                                   Please notice the clean dishes in the background!

It’s only the best thing since sliced bread!!

Norwex is a company whose products let you clean your house, with just water, and a cloth.         YES!!         It’s true!

When I first heard about Norwex, I was sooo skeptical!!       How in this world can you clean 90% of your house with just a cloth, and water???     HOW??

Well, Norwex is microfiber, with silver inside, so it self purifies.       But not just ANY microfiber!        It is so thin, it’s beyond the industry standard, waaay beyond!       So, you are mechanically cleaning, not chemically cleaning.

With Lysol spray, bleach wipes, etc, you are chemically cleaning.       In other words, you are relying on the chemicals to kill the bacteria.         If you read the label on the wipes, you are supposed to leave them on the surface for 4 minutes!!          Anyone actually do that??       I sure didn’t!!        And then you’re left with all this chemical residue, that some products say you have to clean the counter after.     What???       I’m trying to get it clean in 1 go round, not spray, wait 4 minutes, wipe, than have to clean AGAIN!     No thank you!!

Instead, you dampen the Norwex cloth, and clean only the ONCE!!        Because there are so many fibers per square inch, it picks up 99% of the germs, etc, the first time!!  And no cancer causing chemicals, that you then have to clean off!!        Win/Win!! After you use it, just rinse, and hang to dry.

slob, humor, Norwex cloth

Norwex Envirocloth, used, rinsed, and hung to dry.

Simple!         (You are recommended to wash them once a week.)

Definitely the way to go!!

I’m signing up to sell it myself!!     So, if ya want to know more, email me.

PurpleSlobInRecovery@gmail.com

Oh yeah, 1 more thing, the mop!!

The handle is adjustable to the user.      So, DD1 puts it at full length, for herself, then lowers it all the way down, for PP.        As soon as PP saw it, she grabbed it, and dry mopped the living room!!

slob, humor, Norwex mop,

Isn’t it cute?? And easy for almost-4-year-old-hands to handle!!

YES!!         I officially have trained my replacement!!     No more cleaning for me!!     Woo hoo!!!       Happy dance!!!

Party Prep

DD1 had a party-!

Party prep was on my mind!     I didn’t do all the cleaning, just my share.

My contribution to the clean up.

I cleaned the kitchen, including de-cluttering the counter tops some.

Swept, spot mopped.

Look, Ma!    Empty sinks!!

slob, humor, empty clean sinks!
Doubly done!

Swept living room after she cleaned up.

So clear!      So clean!       So classy!

Swept her room.

Swept my room.

Swept the porch, after she did some de-cluttering.

Dirty:

Clean:

I swept so hard on the porch, I literally snapped off the broom handle, inside the broom head!

Buh-bye broom!

Went thru some boxes.

Scrubbed toilet.     No pix, you’re welcome!

Whew!      So tired!!        Brownie, and Coke time!!         (Or mango soda, whatever’s in the fridge.)

More about the actual party later!!

Charitable Choice

Someone in my church posted about a family in need.      They have 5 kids, and are temporarily living in a tent.

I thought, “Now, what do I have that people in a tent might need?”

Towels came to mind.        So, I asked DD1 if she’d mind, if we went thru the towels, and donated some.      She’s a sweet girl, and agreed.

We have a LOT of towels!

We easily agreed to donate 3 bath towels.

slob, humor, donating towels

3 green hand towels, from my uncle, that we never even used.       (His job is professional laundry, and sometimes thing are left over.)

slob, humor, ugly green towels

Ugly green= gah bye!!

Same with the 2 “lavender” hand towels.        (I just thanked him, and took them.             I didn’t have the heart to tell him they weren’t lavender!)

slob, humor, hand towels to donate

Sorry, NOT really lavender!

Looky here, a kitchen towel set.    Still in the packaging…..

slob, humor, kitchen towels to go

And 1 purple washcloth, just to test myself, to see if I could let it go…….

slob, humor, donating purple!!

Let it go!!

2 mismatched pillow cases.

And 2 journals, out of the 7 I still had.         (Didn’t I de-clutter journals a while back???)

That was just a quick run thru of the CLEAN towels.      There is still a hamperful in the laundry.        We have WAAAAAAY too many towels!!

But less now!          And less is more!

De-Clutter, De-claim, De-cline, De-clusion

Alrightey then.

In De-clutter, De-claim, De-cline, I pretended to work in the sink room.  In D,D,D,De-clusion, I really AM gonna work in there!  Promise!!

The other 8 house posts:

House’s Home !

Wandering Wonderings

De-clutter, De-claim, De-cline

Now we’re in the conclusion of D,D,D- the De-clusion.   (At least I assume it’s the conclusion!     But you know what happens when ya assume!!!)

Alrightey, let’s refresh your memory of the sink room counter:

I know, I know!     The hamper is NOT on the counter!       But, it’s significant, so must be included!

First, I found this hamper, as we were unpacking:

slob, humor, purple plastic hamper.

Purple hamper!! Plastic purple hamper.

And I filled it with toys, and toiletries that needed to come to the bath sink room.      You know me, gotta save those steps!       I realized, it would be so much more practical, in the flood sink room, when it rains.       So, that was first on the agenda.

There, much better, drier.       Also, the plastic will not attract bugs, in the same way the woven grass would!

And we already had a pre-existing palmetto bug problem, no need to add fodder to the fire!

slob, humor, dead Palmetto bug

Palmetto bug, in its final death throes. I chose not to video it. You’re welcome!

These bugs are huge!!    (Those are 1 inch tiles.    JK!!     But they are huge!!   The bugs, not the tiles.)

As I was moving the woven basket, to replace it, all kinds of roaches scurried out and away.   Yuck!!       Thankfully, DD1 had just walked in, so she was able to help me with La Cucaracha dance!

Good move (ha!) on replacing that hamper, Melinda!!            Thanks!!       Sometimes I DO use my brain well!!

slob, humor, woven basket roach motel- gone!

Woven roach motel gone!

So, 1 major space taker, in the donate pile right off the bat!      Yeah!!

Gorgeous purple, woven hamper, I love ya!      But I gotta let ya go.      I love my new, clean, roach-less room better!         Adios!

Toys, and more toys.      Since they haven’t noticed them missing till now, I think I’ll be safe in donating them.       Yay!!        Gonna fill up that rejected hamper!!

slob, humor, toothbrush choices

Do the girls really need a wardrobe of toothbrush choices?? Apparently, yes.

Sometimes their teeth might not feel like being brushed with a red brush.       They’re sensitive, and need to be pampered!         Teeth have feelings too!!

slob, humor, 3 band-aids in the box

Oh yes, the classic, “3 band-aids left in the box.”

slob, humor, rash decisions

We like to be prepared for any rash emergency. Or are we just too lazy to finish squeezing out all the remainder??

Since “remainder” is a math term, I’ll let you decide!

slob, humor, not bathroom supplies

2 of these things don’t belong…

Since they don’t belong in the sink room, they got banished to the laundry dungeon!

slob, humor, no knives in bath

A butter knife?? To cut the medication dose in half, or what??

In the donation box basket, with you!!

Yada, yada, yada, more junk.

Look, Ma- drawers!!

slob, humor, hair care drawer

Who needs combs, and brushes in this house??? Oh yeah, the girls…. Don’t worry, I do NOT use that nasty wire brush on them!!

All done!

slob, humor, done! (Almost.)

Ahem!! Not by a long shot, are you done!

Okay, since it’s only 1 box, it’s only a short shot, then.

AND!!      You haven’t cleaned yet, either!

slob, humor, dirty sink

Dirty sink. In the sink room. Imagine that.

You’ve read all the same slob blogs I have.       De-cluttering comes first!!        So cleaning comes easier!!

slob, humor, box in cabinet

There ya go! All nice and tucked away!

Now, I’m done done!

So nice and clean!!         Ahem!!         Oh uh, I mean de-cluttered!!        I can’t do it ALL in one day!!        That’s just crazy talk!

The rocks are from PP’s carefully curated collection.      Yes, we meant to leave them there.

slob, humor, rock decor

Don’t these just say “calm, and serenity now” to you??

(Have I mentioned how much I HATE this black , faux leather, contact paper, that is on every flat surface in this house??       ARGH!!)

Oh yes, yes, “Calm, and serenity now.”

Take a well deserved break, Melinda!       The sink room counter is lovely!       And the black highlights the rough, natural texture of the rocks.

ARGH!!!!!

Melinda’s Mothers Morning

Mother’s Day, May 14, 2017

slob, humor, purple Mother's Day gift

Happy Mother’s Day, Melinda!

It was a wonderful day!!    OR “wunnerful”, as Laurence Welk used to say!!      (Google him, millennials; a famous band leader, had a TV show).

Went to church with DD1.     DD2 called.    I had a Steak-n-Shake Garlic burger, fries, {What GF diet??} and a purple milkshake.

slob, humor, purple milkshake

Only the best purple shake in the world!!

[Thank you Sweet Friend, for giving me the gift card!]

Talked to my Mama; Sis, Brother, and Shirley texted me.

Went to new house, and had a Nap!!      Very important part of any great day!!

When I got up, unpacked 4 boxes.     Purged a small Walmart bag of new stuff from crafts, and threw away a half way full, small moving box of old legal papers.       They were from getting my disability in 2012.     But first I tore off all my names, addresses, and Social numbers!!     I shredded the tiny pile of that stuff, by hand even!!

By that time I was starving, well no, not literally!!      So DD1 got us each small pizzas.     She likes pepperoni, yuck!!      I only want cheese.

slob, humor, cheese only pizza      Or, hamburg, and onions, if we’re getting fancy!!

Then, Sweet Friend came over, and asked where the screws were to put together the beige leather recliner.     How would I know??     I didn’t take it apart!!        And the take-apart-ee, never mentioned it to me.      But, DD1 and I had already decided we didn’t want it, due to its poor condition, and lack of space for it in living room.

messy, messy recliner

                                                                    (Old pic)

So, when he said “Well, I can’t put it back together without the screws!      And then you can’t sit on it!”    We both looked at each other, with smiles on our faces, and said in unison, “Put it outside, by the road!”      He was flabbergasted!       We couldn’t really mean that!                 Yup, we did.           I said “Watch!    Somebody will take it!”         (I’ll be watching to see if that’s true.     But even if they don’t, trash pick up is in the morning, so 1 way or another, it will be gone!!     And I don’t care which way either!)

So, my first purge, at the new place has already occurred!       And I couldn’t be happier!!

Finally, to finish out my perfect day, I got kisses, and hugs,

slob, humor, hugs and kisses

Whirled thru working on the workshop today.    (Sat.  Should have done it Wed!!)

In an hour, I quick sorted thru half of the workshop!!       I couldn’t believe I went so fast!  DD1 was there, helping me.      She looked thru boxes very quickly, if it wasn’t even mine, she put it on the trash pile.       Things that weren’t sentimental, not personal ornaments, new stuff that I forgot I bought, etc, she could donate, or discard for me.

I kept a couple boxes of pictures, etc, that I need to take my time to go thru at a later date.  But so much stuff I let go!!     Very proud of myself!     And so was she!      She really has been a wonderful cheerleader, in this process.     She acknowledges how hard it is for me to give up stuff, and she applauds every effort I make to trim down.       Thank you, honey!!

The paving bricks, left big pic on bottom, I gave away last Thurs, on Freecycle.      I was so glad to see them waltz away, under someone else’s heavy lifting power, not mine!!     And XH was grateful, too!      He’s been helping me so much, in this purging, and packing up to move process!

I was so tired, (it was HOT in there!), that I forgot to take after pix.      Ah well.     Tomorrow’s another day!       It’ll still be there!        I haven’t signed the title, and given the keys to the new owner yet!       I’m still waiting for him to be approved by the park.      He only came to look at it Wed.    So, I’m trying to chill my jets!

DD1, and I will be moving in together, to facilitate taking care of the girls more easily, and the sharing of Vanronica.      We’ve looked at several places.     Even put a deposit on one, moved the furniture in, and then I decided I really couldn’t live there.     I know!!    Why can’t I listen to my gut feelings the FIRST time????     Anyway, we are supposed to get back half our deposit, when the lady re-rents it (for realz that time).      So, only cost me $400, plus turn on fees for gas, and electric.      Quite an expensive lesson!      But, it would have been far worse, to actually move in, and suffer!!      My mental, physical, and emotional health are far too valuable to me now, to not live peacefully, and comfortably.

(There were code enforcement cases open on the property, parking was a nightmare, the only play space was all concrete, and DD1 and I would have had to share a bedroom.     And the very worse thing of all_ the potty space was too tiny!!!!     I knew better than to say yes, at the time, but squelched my instinctive NO!, just so we’d have a place right away.     The decision was made out of fear on my part.    And I had already promised myself not to let fear run my life anymore.      So, to stay true to myself, I had to suck it up, and cancel the deal.     DD1 was disappointed, so was the landlady, but better they are disappointed, than I live torn in half against myself.     And scraping the hide off my thighs every 3 hours!!)

After an hour’s rest, I asked SF to let me borrow his car, and go back over, to bag up the trash, and the donations.     But instead, he came with me.     Even better!!

And that meant I could take some after pix!     Yay!

Then, he and I went thru more stuff, that she and I didn’t get to.

Whew!   The results of 2 more hours work!      Well worth the effort!

He piled all the donates outside, on the carport.

                                                                   Isn’t it lovely??!!

Look at that glorious humongous pile!! I feel tremendously accomplished today!!

Seven Seconds Shade

Y’all, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!     And this time I know fer sure, it’s not a train!       I’ve been de-cluttering, and purging the house for  …   how many months now???        And after almost 13 hours, I’m still not done!!

So, anyways, today we’ve got it made it in the shade, porch shade, that is.

Seven Seconds Shade- today’s shady deal

My porch hasn’t been touched in, oh a year or so??     For PP’s last birthday, July!!  PopPop cleaned it up, to put up her castle.

(Insert castle pic here.)

Just in case I forget to take a pic of her own castle, here’s one very nearly like it.

slob, humor, not PP's own castle

Just like PP’s.     Except, it’s not hers.

BUT!!    He didn’t get rid of anything!    He just rearranged it.       (I don’t want to call him a hoarder, or anything……   but he still has every piece of Tupperware his mother ever touched.     And  lots more stuff, that we will just pretend doesn’t exist.      This is my tell-all blog, not his spill-my-guts-involuntarily-for-me-why-don’t-you-Melinda expose!!    So, nuff said.)

SO, here’s the hideous situation to begin:

AAAARRRGGGHH!!     I went to plug my phone in, to upload the pix, and the camo colored cord is missing!!      Complete and utter panic!!!!!        What do I do now?????

Ok, ok, calm down!       NOW!!      Breathe……

(Text DD1 in a panic, since she’s the only other one who uses this computer.       SF uses his TV, as a monitor, in the living room.)        Whew!!      It’s in Vanronica, which is right outside.        Alright, I can un-panic now!

Short station break while I huff and puff my way outside, and back.         Talk amongst yourselves.       Or have an ice cream bar!

Here we go.      Gratuitous selfie of said missing cord.        Such a happy, smiling cord!

slob, humor, camera cord

Smile! You’re on Camo Cord!

Now, we can finally begin the post!!   (382 words in….)

As I was saying…. SO, here’s the hideous situation to begin:

slob, humor, porch clutter

Shady stuff

Ok, I think you’ve got a good idea now, of the titanic job we were facing.     Didja notice the sand on the floor?      PP is a true Floridian, and wants her toes in be in the sand, at ALL times!       This was AFTER I’d already given away the white stand, and sewing machine in it!

One of the 2 black chairs was broken, so I asked XH to throw it away.    He asked which one, so I told him “Sit on it!”      Then he was able to figure it out.       😉

A mountain of pillow stuffing/fake snow for Christmas villages rained down into trash bags.       The baby walker went rolling right into Vanronica, followed by so much stuff, I can’t even name it all!!

Here’s the Salvation Army haul for this time:

Yay!     More donations!!

XH, DD1, and I worked for an hour and a half!       3 x 1.5 = 4.5 (wo)man hours.     Wow!!   After XH swept, it looked gorgeous!!

slob, humor, XH cleans up nicely

Sweep it clean!

We all stood there dumbstruck that the porch was this big!   We were so used to seeing it piled high with junk, we forgot how nice it really is!

So nice and clean!       And suddenly spacious even!!

Previous Time: 12 hr 58 min

Plus Today’s 4 hr 30 min

Equals :   The envelope please!!     17 hr 28 min

Holy Cow!  I knew 7 was Waaaaay too little, but 17??   Really??

And still more bathroom, 1 bedroom, and the workshop to go!!

I hope I get it all done before I move again!      (Oops!    Let the cat outta the bag!!    Moving posts to come soon!)

More, and more, the story, and clutter mountain grows!      Uh, no, actually, the clutter mountain is decreasing, as time goes on.       Oh, yeah, you’re right!      Thanks for keeping me straight!        No prob.

Here’s how the shed looked, after the first go round.

Now, onto the good stuff!!              Getting rid of!!             Decluttering!!

Purging!!                 Recycling!!      (Sorry, no pix exist.)                 Plain out trashing!!!

slob, humor, trash

I was whirling thru it like a fiend!!

This time, XH was helping me, not DD1.        She was at work.

Donating!!!!

slob, humor, donate

The whole bin that wasn’t mine. So,easy decision, all donate, yess!

All the Christmas overload, that I had not used this past Christmas, took a hike.

 See ya!!

It was a huge LOT!!         Even 1 whole bin of it, that wasn’t mine!!      {Again!!}

I had so many lights, and garland strands, I could have decorated my whole street!!      That’s if you would have had the get up and go, to actually do it!!      You didn’t even decorate the outside of your own house, beyond a wreath on the door.        True, sad, but true.

I was sweating so hard, I think I lost 5 lbs!!       (All water weight of course.)

Results:

Whatever do you do with 2 completely empty bins???        (Update:  you use one to fill up with donate stuff!!      2 bins with 1 stone!)

slob, humor, last empty space

Oops! Almost forgot the final finished foto!

How fabulous does all that empty space look??     It’s like a miracle!!    Except we did it with our own 2 hands!      (4 hands, actually!)        And my brain, and determination to get more junk outta my life!!       I sure wasn’t enjoying any of it, when it was out there with the spiders??    Snakes??       Wasps fer sure!!      (I know cuz I had to spray a few!     Did you know spray paint will kill wasps??      Those 3 are the prettiest, pinkest, DEADEST, wasps ever!!)

slob, humor, painted pink wasps.

The pink and the dead.

In Vanronica, and ready to run!!          They were dropped off within 2 hours!!                     Woo hoo!!!       DD1 and I high fived ourselves, for that!    (Yes, I know I said she wasn’t helping me.      She just showed up for the fun part- the actual donating!!)

slob, humor, back into house

All that will go  back into the house.

Y’all, I’m seriously proud of myself!!       I felt such a high, from dumping all that excess stuff!      I wanted to get going on another space!        Good thing XH has better sense.         He sent me inside to get cool, and drink water.      Why I didn’t have it with me, I doan know.       So, I stretched out in my recliner, rehydrated, and ate 2 ice cream bars, for good measure.       Had to bring my temperature down, didn’t I??

And, then I realized I was tired!!      So glad he stopped me!

Total House Time Before: 10 hrs 28 min.

Total Shed Time Now: 1 hr x 2 people= 2 hrs

Real Total House Time, fer sure: 12 hrs and 28 min.                  {so far….}

Still have 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom, the porch, and the workshop to go!     I’m exhausted again, already!      Oh, yeah, and I haven’t even finished the Scullery yet!

Accomplished, Actually

I feel such a sense of accomplishment today!!   I was about to say “It’s not even noon yet, and already I’ve.”    Then I made the mistake of glancing at the clock.   It’s 12:49 pm.   But,  I decided that my sense of accomplishment is not dictated by the minute hand on the clock.

I have accomplished a lot already today!!   I woke up!!   In a good mood!   Feeling rested!! Read my Bible!

purple Holy Bible

From DH

Ate a healthy breakfast of oatmeal!

slob, humor, empty bowl

Why would I show you an empty bowl??      Cuz I told ya, I ate it already!

{Guess I should dispense with the exclamations marks now!   Oops, sorry, last one, okay?}   Wrote in my diary.   Washed the dishes, ALL of them.   Found my stamps,

slob, humor, stamps

after just texting someone to borrow 3.   Picked up the 3 baby bibs outta the floor, that had fallen off the shelf, and put in a bag to donate.   (PPJr couldn’t even wear new born stuff the day she was born.   Who decides how big a baby’s neck should be anyway???)

Cleaned off the side kitchen counter [-ish].   I put away the gaggle of plastic bags there, and removed the 2 shopping bags, and hung them on the dining room chair.

slob, humor, shop bags

What?? For now, that’s where they go, since they don’t have an assigned home yet.

Drank 2 glasses of water, refilled the pitcher,

answered all my emails.  Commented on the 3 blogs that popped up.   Talked to my Mama, and DD1.   Ate 3 ice cream bars.   Well, that one right there probably shouldn’t count as an accomplishment…

Now I’m skipping on to Day six- Garage.      Well, in my case, shed, since I have no garage! I know, I just skipped to Day Four, with Sisters’ Scene, now here I am skipping to 6.         What in the world??        Do I have no sense of mathematical linear time lines??        Nope!       Well, yes I do, have a sense of them.        Just choosing not to apply them!

When I cleaned out the girls’ bedroom, I had to have some place to put all the stuff!!     (So actually I did this day first, but I didn’t want to totally blow your minds by skipping too many days at once!!)

slob, humor, old recycling

Why did she save these recyclables??    Can you guess where they went???

The shed, dun, dun, DUN!!  Quite a mess!

I’ve been here 15 months, and only ventured out there twice.

This is all my own mess.       Well, no, not really.        I found 2 more boxes that had been left by the previous owner!!        DD1 said “Trash ’em!!     Obviously she doesn’t really miss ’em!”         So, I did!      Much to my own surprise!       It wasn’t even MY stuff, and I still felt anxiety just dumping it into the trash, just higgledy-piggledy!        Then the box of recyclables, that she was saving for……?????

And the purple shopping cart, and orange wagon were pulled out, and immediately put into play!  (First top pic.)

The bag of cement, that is hard as a rock, is waiting for stronger arms than ours to remove it!!

The brown, wooden, slatted box in the bottom, left pic, middle shelf, is an egg box, DD1 said, after looking in it.     She was just gonna recycle it, but I said “Wait!!”      We can sell that!!”    (Yeah, I should probably just go back, and put it out by the road, huh??)

Ahhhh!!        So much better!!       Not perfect, just better.

Not done yet tho!!      Still plenty of mess to declutter!
