meme monday

I’ve been collecting these memes from Facebook for a while.

Now, I just gotta share!!

And, it’s Monday, hence the name “Meme Monday.”     Don’t expect this every Monday!!!!      I’m not starting a series or anything, here.

major minimalist

Today I feel like bragging on myself.   Celebrating, even!    Nominating myself for an award maybe!

In at least 1 area I am a major minimalist. Wait- isn’t that an oxymoron??

Where was I? Oh yeah, major minimalist.  In the area of footwear, I am that double “m” phrase.

I only own 1 pr slippers, purple naturally!

quilted purple slippers on my feet

Quilted, warm!!

1 pr crocs for everyday wear. And I do mean everyday!  I wear them every where, even church.

purple Crocs

Comfy purple Crocs

(Of course I got them on sale!   With a coupon too!)

Then I have 1 pr closed toe black leather shoes.  For snow boots!! Lol

black closed toe leather shoes

Gotta be FRIGID to drag out these puppies!

I hardly ever break those out any more. Maybe for a funeral.  Except Jeffery’s.    The dress code was purple and red, so the Crocs were required.  Red for him, purple for Sis.

Don’t even own any flip flops! Cuz that’s what I do when I wear them!

It takes real talent to “fall” off those!   And yet I have. Sad when ya can’t even walk like normal people!!

So, a total of 3 prs of footwear qualifies me as a major minimalist in that area, wouldn’t you agree?

Valuable Valentine

DD1 was my biggest and best Valentine ever! (9 lbs 12 oz- imagine if you can…Very valuable!!   Almost 10 lbs. of pure sugar!!)   Also known as Baby Strawberry Giant.

Crystal in yellow heart handmade dress

Her first heart outfit, that I made.

All natural birth with NO drugs!  (Until the numbing shot when the midwife was sewing me up!  That shot hurt worse than the sewing!  I refused the next one, and said “Just git ‘er dun!”)

I’m so thankful for my baby girls, both of them! They are my treasures.   DD1 is my Valentine baby, and DD2 is my Washington’s Birthday present to myself!

When they were little, I had the tradition of sewing them matching Valentine-Birthday outfits.   Poor DD2, she never got a Washington’s BD outfit!   (What would THAT look like?? A tree with an axe at the root??)   She always had to have hearts.   And, of course since their birthdays are only 8 days apart, they had to share birthday parties too.   And you can guess what the theme was- every year!!

Here’s one of DD2, also known as Newborn Strawberry Giant:

DD2 Kim being held by DD1

Here’s DD2! DD1 is holding her.

(This taking pix of pix with my phone is horrible!   Now, I not only need a REAL camera, but I need a scanner too!!!)

Why can’t I find a pic of both of them in an outfit I sewed???            (Ummmm, can’t be because I haven’t organized my pix yet!)

Oh wait, here’s one!    Not a great pic at all!!   But, they’re both in it, wearing their dresses for that year!    I’ll take it!

I love you DD1!   Happy Valentine’s Birthday!

And Happy Valentine’s Day, and Happy Birthday, DD2!   I love you!

Talking Turkey

You already saw the adorable turkey material.   But!  I only showed you the one- there’s two!!  Aha!  Tricked you!

This is how sewing is supposed to be done!  (Decisions, decisions; to press or not to press, that is the question.)

It’s a bodice!

Here’s the neckline detail:

It’s supposed to be a sweetheart neckline.
Can you tell?

I know, not really. Oh well,  at least it has some shape to it!

Don’t you just love Thanksgiving??  I do !  So much!!  It was the first truly American holiday.  Just colonists, and Native Americans giving thanks together, to God, for the harvest and surviving another year.   No shopping, just family, and friends, eating and celebrating, enjoying each other’s company.

(And just like us, probably passing out, after the sugar rush of all those pies!  Oh, is that just my family?)

{I just hope I don’t have plumbing problems the day of the dinner!!  Asking guests to stick their hand in the tank to flush is a WHOLE nother matter, than doing it myself!!}

Oh, the dress??  It’ll be done by the 26th, I promise!

Sewing Sew Sew

What have I gotten myself into now??  I just finished the nieces baby quilt last, last, last Thursday (3 ago).  Now here I am starting ANOTHER quilt??  (For my Sister-in-law, Shirley- ya know, the one I promised Brother last January???)  Am I crazy??  (Well, that’s already well established, no need to answer!)

AND!!!!  I’m planning to do a Thanksgiving dress for PP!!!!!   I AM INSANE!!!

Just purchased the Thanksgiving material, (and Christmas too, if I MUST confess) for PP, on Veteran’s Day.

It was on sale!!  60% off the harvest, and 50% off Christmas!!  With a 40% off coupon!!!  I HAD to buy it!! Right then!!

(Even though I had to borrow the money, totally worth it!! to me, anyway!!)

I’m gonna be busier than “2 squirrels in a wool sock”!  (Thanks, Cindy D. for that saying!)

Shirley did come over and cut up all the squares, which I can’t do.  (Remember that pesky little wreck, back in February??

Boy, I do.  Every time I try to use my left arm!)

Here they are, in all their freshly cut glory:

Gorgeous colors!  Brother picked them out, and he’s color blind!  Kudos to him!

Here is the material for PP’s Thanksgiving dress.  I just love these turkeys!!  Who could resist such cuteness??

And I’m going to!

And ta-da!  Behold the Christmas dress raw materials.  PP picked these out herself!!  What an eye!

Oops!  I forgot to take that pic, again!  Bad slogger, bad slogger!   Meantime, please enjoy this lovely

Pic of Jackie and JFK, in their Christmas outfits.   Off to take that pesky pic!   (Unless I forget again….)

Okay, so now I gotta chain myself to the machine again!  Hope I get let off for Thanksgiving dinner!  (Well, that will probably depend on how fast I get the turkey dress done!!)  If you don’t hear from me in about a week, please send food and water!!

Why, yes, that is a hospital gown.  What?  Like you don’t have one.  You don’t?  Really?

I had to wear it home, that time they took me nek-kid to the hospital.  Remember?

I got rid of some stuff outta here, but probably not as much as I should have.  But, you’re not the boss of me.  It’s my house, I can keep whatever I want to.  So there.

I did get rid of the potty bucket.  Yay! 1 thing!  Ah, ah , aa!  (The Count from Sesame Street.  I’m not sure how to spell his laugh.)

And 1 pillow.  Yay! 2 things!

And the empty(!!) cardboard box, under the pillows.  Yay! 3 things.

(Empty box?  Insanity!)

Ok, enough already of the Count.

The empty grapevine wreath, the fake flowers, the red dress, and the cardboard box beside the potty bucket, all went too.

All in all, I’m calling it better than it was!

Oh, you wanted after pictures?  Oopsie!

Pudding Pop’s Pretty Pink (P)kitchen

I know Pkitchen’s not a word.  I just had to put that P in there!  My fingers would not stay off the P key.

20151116_224709

How precious is that??

Ever since PP’s  Panda and Pink (P)first (P)birthday Party,

(I tell ya, my finger WILL NOT come off that P key!),

I’ve been jonesing to get PP a pink (p)kitchen.  The Sunday after Black Friday, they were still ringing up at Black Friday prices!  So, I was able to get one, without fighting all the crowds!

(P)hurray!

I even stated putting it together myself, but got stuck.  So we had to call in the handyman to save the day!

(We had DD1 and PP’s Christmas early, because they were down visiting from their new home.  )

Here is a pic of PP playing with her pretties.

141219_001

It came with pots and pans, dishes, spatula, and even a cell phone!

Now all I have to add are some potholders, hot pads, and and an apron!

It just so happens the the Christmas dress I made her was in 2 pieces, with an apron! So, I’m ahead of the game there!
