Seven Seconds Severe- we’re here

After 20 Seven Seconds’ posts, I have now officially pared down my house, to the bone!!    I can unequivocally say that I literally can not purge another thing.     *gasp!!*

How dare you say that??

It’s easy!      My house is completely empty!       See??     That’s how I dare!

slob, humor, not quite totally empty

Okay, a few little things still need to go, but I think ya get the drift!

slob, humor, only 1 chair left

Okay, ya got me! I can pare down 1 more thing!! I promise it’s coming with us!

Empty kitchen!!!      Just the lonely title, hanging around, waiting for its new owner!    (And ya KNOW I had to leave some tp– for humanitarian reasons!!)

slob, humor, empty pantry   Empty pantry!!       Give a shout, if you get sick of reading the word “empty”!!

                                                    Bathroom is all emptied out!

slob, humor, sisters' stuff stolen??

Sad sisters’ scene

Say what??     Was all sisters’ stuff stolen??

My room, empty as I could leave it.      Yes, I did leave my black computer desk.    I hate it, and the new owner might need it!

I should have left every last drawer hanging out, just for the photo op! lol

Here’s the really, completely, totally empty pix!!

Except for the scooter.      I told XH to push it outside, so trash pick up will get it.    He will, after a restorative nap!       No more small stuff in living room.      High chair high jacked!!

Remember when I said I let the cat out of the bag, about moving??        Well, now you see proof that I am indeed moving.        Where to, is still to be determined.     For right now, Rose’s couch will be my humble abode.      Rose is so wonderful!     She didn’t want me sleeping in the van, so she offered me refuge.

DD1 and I had a plan for a place, but it fell thru, and the other plan is still in the works, so……..     I’m now a hip, young couch surfer!       Except, my hip isn’t young anymore!      Oh, my aching back!

Thankfully!!     SF came to the rescue, with his offer of a real bed!!       He has a guest room, and I just happen to need to be a guest for right now!!       Serendipitous!

slob, humor, sleep selfie

Getting my beauty rest, on a Beauty Rest.

What is wrong with you anyway, Melinda??         Whatever do you mean?      And in what context?              Why are you moving all the time??     Ever since you left XH, in July 2013, you can’t stay still!         Well, each time, I think I’m doing the best thing by moving.

From the apt to Home Sweet Home was to be on my own.

To the next place, was to have more room for the girls!

Now, I’m moving to escape the tyranny of old busybodies who have nothing better to do, than complain about my darling babies!      And their toys!       And their noise!

Seriously, am I the only one in here who ever has grandchildren to visit them????

I didn’t even track how long it took to pack up, and completely empty the house.       I think that wouldn’t be fair, since it’s far beyond the scope of just de-cluttering!!

So the totally total time we ended up with was: 24 hrs and 38 mins.       So incredible, that I STILL had so much clutter!!    smh       After almost 2 years of decluttering now!      To be real, I kept bringing stuff in, or I would have been done long ago!       But, I truly think I have changed my mind set now.      Too many things is not a good thing.        I want to enjoy my life, and the people in my life.    Not waste my life on things.         Plus!  I have stopped shopping, almost totally, since Christmas!      So, there’s that.

Of course, ya know I’ll keep ya up to date on my life, whatever happens.     I’m just moving houses, not like I’m quitting blogging, or anything!

Yay!!     As of May 10, we have our new place!!       Moving in on the weekend!

Pix to come very soon!!

Doing Dishes Daily

Huh, doing dishes daily is a real thing!   Who knew???   (Well for starters, Granny, Mama, Kristen C., Nicole….. and every other cleanie in the world.)   And I must confess, deep in my slobbiest of hearts, I knew it too.

broken heart

(Does this look like the slobbiest of hearts?????)

I just spent the last 4 decades pretending I didn’t.   My Mama raised me right, I just chose to let my slob side over rule my training.    Now, I’m shaking my head at myself.   How many, many, MANY hours of forced torture did I put myself and my family through, to panic clean before a party, company, etc????   So many that it was probably literally YEARS of our lives.

Sometimes, it wasn’t a conscious choice, due to my thyroid and depression issues.    But, to be truthful, other times, it WAS a deliberate choice, cuz I just didn’t feel like it.    But, guess what?   Grown ups have to do what’s needed, whether they want to or not.   (Which I also really knew deep down, but pretended I didn’t.   It’s so exhausting to keep denying reality!!)    Now, I’m finally on the path to applying that (consistently) to my home.

So, back to doing the dishes daily.   Everyone *cough*Mama*cough, told me it’s so much easier if ya just go ahead and DO them!!!   And, when I did, I discovered, BY Golly, they’re right!!!    Doncha just hate when that happens????   ME too.

So, today, after I ate breakfast, I put my dishes in the sink.

dirty dishes in sink

Not today’s dishes. I’m totally recycling this pic from January.    Shhhhhhhh!

And STARTED to walk away. Then, I paused and thought “DIN DIN, (do it now) you’ll be glad later.”   So, I did.   Later today, when I go to eat lunch, I’m gonna see my empty sink, and smile.   Yes, indeed, I’ll be glad I did the dishes this day.

Nony Need

I’ve talked about Nony, (Dana White) and my love

beating heart

LOVE!

for her several times.  I even wrote a post, (or 2, maybe 3?) about her and how she’s inspired and helped me.

So, after writing  Reminiscing, I told her.

Your comment on the post Stopping in the Middle of a Whole House Decluttering Project has a new reply

Here is your comment:

I wrote about you on my blog today.

You are seriously why people can now come to my door pretty much any time, and be able to find a place to sit! And use the facilities without me screaming: NO! Don’t go in there!
Finding you saved my life, homemaking wise.
I can never thank you enough.

ugly green iron chair

Ugly green, but it’s a place to sit!

(And it’s empty, available to actually sit in!!!!)
Here is her answer:
Oh Melinda! Thank you so much for sharing this. You have been through so much and come so far!

See why I love her??   She is a sweet, truly Christian woman, who gives herself to serve others.   We need more Nonys in this world!!

Easy?? Easy for You to Say

Nony, from a SlobComesClean, always says, “Start with the Easy Stuff”.

But, what’s the “Easy Stuff”??

Stella from Purfylle answered that very well.  Please go read her post, AFTER you finish mine!

I was already planning this post, when I saw hers.  So, I asked her for permission to share.

She lists 5 categories of stuff that are easy to start with, with 6 sub-categories of #5.

Here’s how I’m doing with that.

I sat sulkily on my sofa, (read bed), staring at stuff.  I wanted to do SOmething, but what?  There wasn’t any trash (that I could see from my seat).  But, did I get up and go see for sure??  Nope, that would require actually moving.  And I just wanted to sit, and sulk, and stare at the stuff.

built in dresser

Built-in Dresser

Okay, this is a cheat pic, from before I moved in.  Sheesh, you guys are so hard on me!

My nice 8 drawer dresser sits empty, while a mountain of junk nice stuff sits on top.  That ain’t right, y’all.

But, it’s my truth.  I wanna be a recovered slob, but I’m far from it yet.

If I would just get up, and pick 1 thing, and put it away, I’d probably be motivated to do another, then another.

Alas, we may never know, since I chose to come over here to Sweet Friend’s house and blog about it, rather than actually, ya know, do it.   sigh
