Normative Norwex

Remember in Party Prep, I said more about DD1’s party to come?

Well here it is!!

Her party was for launching her Norwex business.       (FYI: she signed up under our friend, Kristen.     Yeah, the twins’ mama!)

What’s that??      Don’t know what Norwex is??

slob, humor, Norwex box

Not the actual product!   Just the box her kit came in!                                   Please notice the clean dishes in the background!

It’s only the best thing since sliced bread!!

Norwex is a company whose products let you clean your house, with just water, and a cloth.         YES!!         It’s true!

When I first heard about Norwex, I was sooo skeptical!!       How in this world can you clean 90% of your house with just a cloth, and water???     HOW??

Well, Norwex is microfiber, with silver inside, so it self purifies.       But not just ANY microfiber!        It is so thin, it’s beyond the industry standard, waaay beyond!       So, you are mechanically cleaning, not chemically cleaning.

With Lysol spray, bleach wipes, etc, you are chemically cleaning.       In other words, you are relying on the chemicals to kill the bacteria.         If you read the label on the wipes, you are supposed to leave them on the surface for 4 minutes!!          Anyone actually do that??       I sure didn’t!!        And then you’re left with all this chemical residue, that some products say you have to clean the counter after.     What???       I’m trying to get it clean in 1 go round, not spray, wait 4 minutes, wipe, than have to clean AGAIN!     No thank you!!

Instead, you dampen the Norwex cloth, and clean only the ONCE!!        Because there are so many fibers per square inch, it picks up 99% of the germs, etc, the first time!!  And no cancer causing chemicals, that you then have to clean off!!        Win/Win!! After you use it, just rinse, and hang to dry.

slob, humor, Norwex cloth

Norwex Envirocloth, used, rinsed, and hung to dry.

Simple!         (You are recommended to wash them once a week.)

Definitely the way to go!!

I’m signing up to sell it myself!!     So, if ya want to know more, email me.

Oh yeah, 1 more thing, the mop!!

The handle is adjustable to the user.      So, DD1 puts it at full length, for herself, then lowers it all the way down, for PP.        As soon as PP saw it, she grabbed it, and dry mopped the living room!!

slob, humor, Norwex mop,

Isn’t it cute?? And easy for almost-4-year-old-hands to handle!!

YES!!         I officially have trained my replacement!!     No more cleaning for me!!     Woo hoo!!!       Happy dance!!!

Angel Angle

We had an ornament exchange at our Women’s Christmas Extravaganza, at Harvest Church, Tuesday, Dec. 13th.

slob, humor, family    Mama was my guest, Jaime was her guest!      Kristen missed the photo op.

Mama went up to get mine, and of course, I reminded her to get a purple one!      AS if you had to, she is your mother, Melinda!      True!   What was I thinking??

slob, humor, ornament exchange

   Purple Enough, I guess…

I peeked at mine, then re-wrapped it for PP to “open”.    (Thankfully it was in a gift bag!) She was sooo excited to finally get to open a present!     She has been hopefully asking every day, “My pwesent??”     So far, the answer had been “No” every time.       YAY for being able to make her day!!

slob, humor, angel ornament       She was thrilled to see this gorgeous angel!!       We had hangers out, and ready.      Carefully she hung it on the tree.

slob, humor, angel on tree

Speaking of tree, she decorated it all by herself!!        Quite an eye for symmetry she has!!

slob, humor, PP decorated tree

And speaking of angels, this is our “angel” tree topper.

slob, humor, tree topper

PP picked it out herself (what? you thought I did it??).  Pop gently lifted her up, and she placed it oh so carefully.

Isn’t she a pretty, pretty princess??            LOL

PP thinks so, and that’s all that matters!

But what are we gonna do next year, when PPJr wants to “help”??        I guess buy double the number of cheap plastic ornaments!!       My glass ones are gonna have to wait several more years, before THEY reappear!

Cookie Chaos

Grandmama, Aunt Michelle, Cousins Kristen and Jaime came over on Sat. Dec 13th to make sugar cookies.     And they were wonderful!!     We  ate ’em as fast as they came outta the oven, almost!

PP had her own tiny rolling pin!     So cute!

slob, humor, tiny rolling pin

And she knew how to use it too, buddy!      Grandmama set that lump of dough in front of PP, and she went at it!       Grandmama stood there in astonishment!  “But, I didn’t even tell her what to do yet!”      We have a genius on our hands!!

(Maybe this will help show the scale of the rolling pin. slob, humor, big boy, little rolling pin

Yes, that’s a giant cookie cutter, but a regular sized cookie sheet.)

Soon as she got it (the dough, not the boy) rolled out, she attacked it with the cutters, slob, humor, mini cookie cutters

with a will!    I think she had them all cut out in about 15 seconds!   😉

So everyone chowed down, and enjoyed themselves.    When Mommy came to pick up the girls, she got some.      Pop Pop even got a few!     (And is now lobbying for a second bake-athon.      Whenever ya got the time to some over and help, just let me know!      So far, ain’t happening!)

Now, all that to say, here it Thur. 12/22, and the table still looks like this.

slob, humor, cookie chaos    That’s the right half of the table.   I skipped showing ya all the flour, and crumbs!     Welcome!

slob, humor, craft mess     The left side of the table.  Showcasing BOTH the cookie chaos, and the craft crap creativity.

(Yeah, the cookie mess is there, under the craft mess.    PP didn’t have the time to wait for me to clean up, she had to get her craft on!)

So now, the crunch is on once again, to clean up.    I’m having DD1, SIL, the girls, Pop Pop, and SIL’s sister that I just met last night, over for Christmas Dinner, after church.     (Actually it’s gonna be more like Christmas Brunch, since it’s gonna be our family’s traditional chocolate syrup, and biscuits!      Sadly, canned biscuits.     Please don’t tell Mama!    Or she will beat my butt for serving that mess to my family!       I’m planning to look up some kinda breakfast casserole I can do in the cook pot.     I ain’t afraid to use that!   And bonus:  the fire alarm doesn’t go off!)

Okay, so after I get this written to this point, now I gotta go clean!        UGH

And now would ya lookit the time!!      Gotta go take a nap now, it’s on the schedule!!      (I write “nap” down every day on my ta do list!     So, at least I’ll accomplish ONE thing a day!!)      The reason I had the time to write this post, and take the pix is- the girls were in day care.   But I have to go get them at 5, so I have to rest up first!!

You’ll be the first to know when I actually get the table cleaned off!

Sewing Suits

No, not sewing suits as in men’s clothes, sewing suits, as in it suits you to a “T”.    Sewing is suitable for your brain.  There, does that make more sense??   (Shout out to my friends Liz and James Suits!!)

Hey, maybe you should have named this “Sewing Sense”.

NOW ya tell me!!   Where were ya when I was trying to think up a title??

Sewing suits, of course!!

Anyway….

My good friend, and new mother Kristen, you probably remember her from Twin Twist, blogged this, and I just HAD to re-blog it!!

Why Sewing is Great for Your Brain!

As if I don’t have enough to do these days (HA!) I’ve been thinking about taking up sewing. Maybe making all the twins outfits. Maybe opening an Etsy shop. Maybe making some cute treasures for friends and family.

So what do YOU think? Do you think YOUR brain would be helped by some sewing?

Reminiscing Rememberances

When a friend , Kristen, started a homemaking blog, TheRoadtoDomestication, I was excited for her!  She just got married, so yay! We can learn things together.  But she’s a natural born “cleanie” and organizer, and I AM NOT.  It frustrated me that things that were simple for her made no sense to me, and I tried, but just COULDN’T do them.  So, while I was happy for her, I was still depressed for me.

Then I heard about FLYLady.  She has flybabies, well then maybe I can do that!  But, her first thing was to get up, shower and dress all the way down to shoes, and makeup.  I didn’t have any makeup, and only wore shoes outside!  So, before we even started, I was already a loser!  Than made me super upset and frustrated.

Then I finally had the bright idea to Google slob, (best thing I ever did for my home!!) and found NONY from the SlobComesClean, and the angels sang! She gets me!!  She’s just like me!!  I had found my tribe!!

I started reading her, then a month later, decided to start my own blog, (this very one!) to document my own journey out of slobbery.

Lots of things have happened between now and then.  DD1 and PP have moved out, DD1 and SIL have gotten married, now with PPJr on the way!!

I have moved twice!!!

my first place all on my own

My Very First Place, All on my Own!

DH and I separated, and now on the way to being divorced.

I have learned how to de-clutter!!  I have learned to do dishes!!! (before they mildew even!!)

I’ve broken my back, (can’t find the right post for some reason, oh well, back to my sentence) gotten back on track with health, gone GF, gone back on that, and gone back to GF!!

Whew! That’s a lot of switchbacks!

I’ve organized!  (With help, of course.)

I’ve lost a brother-in-law.  This one is the worst.  Death is horrible, the effects last as long as you live.  The only consolation we have , is that we will see him again in heaven.  So, cherish all your loved ones.  Kiss and hug, and say “I love you” everyday.  You never know when it will be your last chance.

So, here we are, today, January 25, 2016.   A year and a half later, I’m still slogging, cleaning, de-cluttering, and learning.   And I love my life!   Thanks everyone for coming along with me!!  I appreciate y’all so much for taking your time out of your busy life, to read what I have to say, and comment.  Y’all are the best!!  Hugs and kisses to all!

I love my readers

I love you, my readers!!

{I can NOT believe I didn’t say PURPLE one time in this WHOLE post!  I had to remedy that real quick like!}

Pearly’s Post

Pearly nominated me for a Blogger Recognition Award!

Thanks, Pearly!

slob, humor, award

Here’s the link to her blog:

https://designinglife01.wordpress.com/2015/09/20/blogger-recognition-award

Update 2/8/17:  Sadly, Pearly has deleted her site.     😦

☆THE RULES

1. Thank whoever nominated you and include a link to their blog.

2. Write a post and give a brief story of how your blog started.

3. Give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers.

4.Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.

5.Let the nominees know you have nominated them and provide a link to the nomination details.

Okay, #1-done    #2- gonna do that little thing right now.

I have been a life long slob.  And I was SICK of it!  I’d been reading cleaning, organizing, and purging blogs.  Kristen, from RoadtoDomestication was the first one I read, since she’s a personal friend.

It is great!  But, she’s naturally organized, and I’m not, so nothing changed.  Then I found Nony, from ASlobComesClean.

And she’s a self admitted slob!  I had found my people!!

So, I determined to take control of my life, one dust bunny at a time.  I started my blog Aug. was a year ago.  Everyday I’d do something, no matter how small, and document it in writing, and pix.  My first post, First Day, was the beginning.

me big girl

Me at 344 lbs. Yep, I was a BIG girl!

Now I’m an experienced blogger with a lot less junk in my life, who has improved health, as well.  My life is so satisfying now.

#3, Advice.

Hmmm, I don’t really feel qualified to give advice, just tell you what worked for me.  Figure out what you want to say.  It has to be important to you, or you’ll lose interest.  Then, start saying it!!  And proofread, proofread, proofread!  I re-read my posts multiple times before I publish, and still mistakes make it thru.  That’s so embarrassing for a Grammar Nazi!!!

#4, 15 other blogs.  That I can do easily!  I know so many wonderful bloggers, just choosing 15 will be the hard part!

Bundles of Bibles

Guess how many Bibles I had on my Expedit??  Go ahead- guess!

And I’m fully certain I can’t read all of them at once.  So, that being said, more than 1 or 2, might be {gulp}

clutter.  Shudder.   I can’t believe I just admitted that!

Hence, the need for de-cluttering.

Now, decision time;  exactly how many Bibles does 1 person need?

Let me start reasoning this out:  The burgundy one in the top photo is fairly new, large print, but is not sentimental to me, at all.  So, that one can go.

The orangish one is an old one of mine that is not sentimental at all either, so it can go.

Hey, this de-cluttering stuff isn’t as hard as I thought it would be!

The brown, spotted one is a really old one of Mama‘s, that she wrote comments in.  That one can NOT go!!  It is very sentimental to me.  I love reading it occasionally, and seeing what verses were particularly meaningful to her.

The one at the bottom, with a tree on it, was given to me by my parents, when I was 8.  VERY sentimental!   Keeping that one as well.

So, let’s see; so far out of 4 Bibles, I’ve gotten rid of 2, and kept 2.  Hmmmm…. 50%- how bad is that?

Any reduction in stuff, is good, right?  Nicole?  Kristen?

Considering I won’t have any bookshelves in my new place….  oh wait!  I have Granny’s corner cabinet!!

20150311_151837

It has shelves!!  That can be my Bible bookshelf!  Hurray!

Of course I’m keeping the purple one.  (that’s a no brainer!)

Nominated for Sisterhood of the World Award!!

IMG_4200

Gail from  Snapshots in cursive nominated me for the  Sisterhood of the World award.

I’m speechless.

And very grateful, as well!

Thank you, Gail!

RULES:

* Thank the giver and link their blog to your post.
* Answer the 10 questions given to you.

* Pass the award on to 7 other bloggers of their choice and let them know that they have been nominated.

* Include the logo of the award in a post or on your blog.

Here they are:

1. On the bad days, how do you cheer yourself up?

A- Singing hymns, and Scripture songs always helps.  Also, talking to my brother!

2. Which is your favourite food?
A- It used to be bread, any kind.  Now that I’m gluten free, I’m really beginning to enjoy fresh vegetables more.

3. How do you let go?
A- Read a novel, or color a picture.

4. How much do you value ‘silence’?
A- So, so much!  My house is finally quiet after many years, and I just sit, soaking it in.

5. Will you hurt someone intentionally or lie to make them feel better?
A-  No, I don’t intentionally hurt people.  Sometimes I do, because I often speak before I think.  Trying to work on that bad habit.

6. Do you have faith in humanity? why or why not?
A- No, not really.  I know humanity is fallen, from Adam and Eve sinning.  Our only hope is through Jesus Christ, and His atoning blood.

7. One thing you really wish could come true?
A- To have an air conditioned vehicle again!  I live in Florida, and I melt every time I have to drive.

8. If you had to sum up your life in 10 or less words, what would they be?
A- A sinner saved by grace.  Love my girls, and family.

9. How do you express anger?
A- Too often, by sleeping.

10. What is the one thing that will turn you completely off about a person?
A- Bad grammar.  When I was in 8th grade, I red lined all my boyfriend’s love letters, and sent them back to him for correction.  What a word snob!
