Timed Tidy Two

Okay, so I started with Timed Tidy.     And I told you the rest of the story would come later.    So, here it is: part two.

I started at 12:59 pm, Saturday afternoon.   I washed a drainer full of dishes.

Ta-da!

(Well, okay, not exactly a drainer full of dishes……)

Cleaned out some containers for recycling.   Took a potty break (hey, I’ve had 2 kids, if you’re a mother, ya know what I’m talking about, amiright??)    De-cluttered the counter top, by dumping out some nasty drink, from the Valentine’s party.

moldy drink humor

EEWW!! Care for a beverage, anyone?? No?

Put away stuff where it belongs.    Yes, some stuff DOES actually have homes!   Shock, shock!

It only took me 23 minutes, including taking the pix.    Now, really, 23 minutes is not long.    So why does it take you so long to do it, huh, PurpleSlob????

Oh yeah! And I cleaned the stove too!     Okay, Okay, I wiped the stove TOP.    Confession is good for the soul.

But, you guessed it, I’m still not done!    So, look for Third Timed Tidy any day now.    Just please, don’t hold your breath!!

dreaded doorbell deadline

Yesterday, (many yesterdays ago, now) I got a phone call.

rotary dial phone

(By candlelight, apparently)

“I’m coming over, be there in an  hour.”

4 sand hour glasses

So, I’m guessing each one is 15 minutes??

Panic! Only 1 hour get ready!!

Exact replica of my expression!

First time visitor! I want to make a good impression!  I haven’t seen her in over 2 yrs!

Nony calls it F.O.U.D.  Fear of unexpected doorbell.  Perfect description, and diagnosis!

Took a quick shower.

(No pix exist of this.  You’re welcome.)

Dishes-10 min or less.

5 min pick up was all I needed!  Had time to sit down for lunch.

Whew! So relieved in such good shape since blog.

Left floor- oh well. Visitable not perfect!

Relaxed and enjoyed visit.

But then she wanted to go in bedroom!

Nooooooo!!!!

Sigh. Oh well at least I made a good first impression!

swish and swipe

I read it on Nony’s blog, ASlobComesClean, about the “Swish & Swipe”.  (And of course, I couldn’t find the post I am referring to….)  I found it!!  Ya know, cuz she has a search feature, and all!!  Duh!

I believe she said it came from the Fly Lady. I had never read that blog, but it was scary, just from what I’d heard.  Fully dressed to makeup, and shoes??  First thing in the morning???  Ain’t happ’nin.

Thought, that’s just too much trouble.

Then I find myself taking 30 min and a jack hammer to chip away at all the crud.

(Have you figured out yet that we’re talking toilet today??)

Finally I decided maybe there is something to the “Swish and Swipe”.  And I started swishing the brush around, every day(ish), and swiping the counters, every day(ish).  And guess what??  The bathroom stayed clean(ish)!!!

Who knew?

Experts know whereof they speak.

Why didn’t I listen sooner?

facepalm

             Facepalm

Anyhoo, now my toilet is usable by guests on any given day.  (Now that PP is potty training, she’s getting in on the action too!  It’s so cute to see her cleaning the toilet!!  And soon, I won’t have to do it anymore!!!!)

Amazing!!

Criss Cross

Did you chant, “Criss cross, applesauce, hands in your lap”??  Well, if you didn’t I know you’re not a Kg or Pre-K teacher!

Anyway: on to the post:

Another benefit of weight loss I can cross my legs now!  Woot woot!  If you’ve never been fat, you’re so blessed!  And also, you don’t know the struggle!

Cross ’em to the left:

crossed legs to the left

I can cross my legs!!

Look Ma, no hands!  Cross ’em to the right:

crossed legs to the right

They even cross the OTHER way!!

I don’t have a pic of uncrossed legs.  Wait! I just might be able to find one!

{hunt, hunt, hunt,  grumble, “No, not that one..”  click, click, click, mutter mutter mutter, “Why didn’t I take pix of my legs when I was fat??  Oh, yeah, I hated how I looked.”

What a change in only 6 short months!!  It’s like Christmas every day now!!  What a huge difference in my health now.

Sometimes, I just sit and cross and uncross my legs for 15 minutes at a time, just celebrating that I can!!  My friends are probably getting tired of hearing about it.  “Listen, have I told you how I can cro..”

Friends:  “Yeah, Melinda we KNOW. You can cross your legs now.  Could you please talk about something else????”

“Hey, did I tell you how much weight I’ve lost by changing my way of eating??

Friends:  “Groan.”

Laundry Litter

Here’s my laundry room closet.  I think it’s not half bad, for a slob.  Believe you me, it could look lots worse.  And it has!  But haha, no before pix so you can’t prove it!  (Raspberry) 20150403_11155520150403_11154720150410_140422   At least the top of the washer is cleared off.  Gotta give me some credit for that! I know, I know.  It would only take a few minutes to clean it all up, nice and neat.  But if you’ve been here before, then you know I should have named this blog “Procrastinating Purple Slob in Recovery”.  Is it too late to add that in there? Maybe tomorrow???20150410_141538    Hey!  Would you just looka there .  I did it!  Hurray!  There just might be hope for me yet!

First Day

I’ve been reading Nony, from A Slob Comes Clean, for about a month now. She has motivated me to get my butt in gear. Sunday night, Monday morning!, I bought her 2 e-book set. Drowning in Clutter, Drain the Ocean, and 28 Days to Hope in Your Home. Of course, being me, I read them immediately.  Then, I got up and emptied the dw.  DH was so excited when he opened it Mon. morning and saw it empty.  Then I got really CRAY-CRAY, and while he took the grand baby, Pudding Pop, for her morning walk, I swept and mopped the living room. My back hurt, and I was huffing, and puffing. Yes, and sweating too.

But, it only took me approximately 10 minutes, start to finish, including moving the toys. Then I sat down, and basked in the glow of a job well down. And basked all day! And posted about it copiously on FB. and private messaged everyone who didn’t comment on my post. I’m so needy for approval. Then I decided to start this blog, to look back on my accomplishments, and brag on myself!

Actually, I’ve been working on cleaning up for longer than just 1 day.  After I got out of Physical Therapy Rehab, June 5, I started getting the itch to have a house that was nice. Not pristine, magazine level, no one can touch anything, just nice.  So, I began going thru boxes, and getting rid of stuff. It felt good to see those 3 boxes of donations, 1 box for consignment, and 13 gallons of trash leave out the door!  We straightened up the living room, and began having people over, well, family.  Then I even had the nerve to have Pudding Pop’s first birthday party here! Everything looked really good.

I have sewn 1 curtain for the living room, now I need to do 1 more. And wait for DH to put up the rods.

If I continue to help with the dishes, and sweep and mop every day, he’ll soon be putty in my hands!
