Vacuous Video

I’m going to try something new today.  Uploading a video.  I’m very nervous, both to try it, and for y’all to hear my voice!

Oh, yeah, and to see my bedroom in real time!

Okay, here goes nothing.

And nothing is exactly what went.   (Don’t ya hate it when that happens??)

Well, alrightey then!  When I went to my files, I didn’t have a video!  I could have sworn I uploaded it, all my pix are there.   Time to troubleshoot.  Oh, Sweet Fri-end!

This is hysterical.  When I went to Wikimediacommons, to look up a “loading video icon”, this is what they gave me:

how to export pro x project

Oh yeah, that’s what I asked for all right!  LOL  smh

Ok, thanks to Sweet Friend’s help, I think we got it now.

Here’s hoping!

Nope, WP doesn’t support VLC, whatever that is.

So, onwards and upwards to plan B, whatever that is.

Now, I gotta go home and take still shots, except DH already straightened up all the mess so I could go to bed last night.

Whatever is a slogger to do when her beautifully messed up photo shoot location, is now NOT a mess????

Write a post about TRYING to upload a video, apparently.

Better luck tomorrow!

At least I can stop worrying that I sound funny on video!

Easy?? Easy for You to Say

Nony, from a SlobComesClean, always says, “Start with the Easy Stuff”.

But, what’s the “Easy Stuff”??

Stella from Purfylle answered that very well.  Please go read her post, AFTER you finish mine!

I was already planning this post, when I saw hers.  So, I asked her for permission to share.

She lists 5 categories of stuff that are easy to start with, with 6 sub-categories of #5.

Here’s how I’m doing with that.

I sat sulkily on my sofa, (read bed), staring at stuff.  I wanted to do SOmething, but what?  There wasn’t any trash (that I could see from my seat).  But, did I get up and go see for sure??  Nope, that would require actually moving.  And I just wanted to sit, and sulk, and stare at the stuff.

built in dresser

Built-in Dresser

Okay, this is a cheat pic, from before I moved in.  Sheesh, you guys are so hard on me!

My nice 8 drawer dresser sits empty, while a mountain of junk nice stuff sits on top.  That ain’t right, y’all.

But, it’s my truth.  I wanna be a recovered slob, but I’m far from it yet.

If I would just get up, and pick 1 thing, and put it away, I’d probably be motivated to do another, then another.

Alas, we may never know, since I chose to come over here to Sweet Friend’s house and blog about it, rather than actually, ya know, do it.   sigh

Quickly Quietly Quilting

Update:  This is what the baby quilt looked like Monday evening at 9:38 pm.  (That’s when my bobbin ran out.  My arms were already yelling “Uncle”!!)  The top 4 rows are completed, and was attaching the fifth…

This is definitely a challenge: racing against the clock!!

baby quilt in progress

Starting to actually look like a quilt!

Uh, please overlook the mess in the background, as usual, I didn’t see it till now.  Don’t worry, fans, plenty of slobbery to go around!  The fount of post material is not in any danger of running dry!!

Just in case you have forgotten, or don’t know, this is the bobbin:

making bobbinThe teeny one on the right.

So, back to the sweatshop, uh, I mean the air conditioned factory of joy!!

swish and swipe

I read it on Nony’s blog, ASlobComesClean, about the “Swish & Swipe”.  (And of course, I couldn’t find the post I am referring to….)  I found it!!  Ya know, cuz she has a search feature, and all!!  Duh!

I believe she said it came from the Fly Lady. I had never read that blog, but it was scary, just from what I’d heard.  Fully dressed to makeup, and shoes??  First thing in the morning???  Ain’t happ’nin.

Thought, that’s just too much trouble.

Then I find myself taking 30 min and a jack hammer to chip away at all the crud.

(Have you figured out yet that we’re talking toilet today??)

Finally I decided maybe there is something to the “Swish and Swipe”.  And I started swishing the brush around, every day(ish), and swiping the counters, every day(ish).  And guess what??  The bathroom stayed clean(ish)!!!

Who knew?

Experts know whereof they speak.

Why didn’t I listen sooner?

Anyhoo, now my toilet is usable by guests on any given day.  (Now that PP is potty training, she’s getting in on the action too!  It’s so cute to see her cleaning the toilet!!  And soon, I won’t have to do it anymore!!!!)

Amazing!!

Comment Chaos

Lately EVERYONE has been talking about how to manage your emails, and blogs.

Sharon from HowtoGetOrganizedatHome.

Janice from MostlyBlogging.

Ralph from BlueFishWay.  (Here is the guest post he wrote for Janice, explaining how he deals with the pressure.)

Hugh from HughsNewsandViews.

I was getting an email everytime someone commented on a post. Necessary, ok.  (But, was it really??? Everytime I log on to WP, if the bell has a circle on it, I have comments.

comment bell

So, hmmm  maybe I can cancel those emails too???  Double notifications are a time waster… So, yeah!  I’m gonna cut out those emails too!  Yay!  More digital de-cluttering

I was getting double emails from several sites when a new post went up. ARGH!  Too much!

I was getting an email everytime someone I was following posted.  Too much!  Not necessary, ditched those.  They are in my reader, and can be accessed that way.

AND, I was getting an email everytime someone LIKED my post, or a COMMENT on a post!!! AAAAAHHHHH!

(Talk about  overload! )

My eyes were burning from all the reading of emails!  My finger was cramping from all the clicking to delete.

finger delete button

Enough already!!

Something had to change!!

Well, duh!  Turn off the LIKE email notifications!!  Tonight, this morning, whatever,  I finally played around in the dashboard long enough to figure out how to turn off the “Like” emails.  Thank goodness!  Hopefully, some of my sanity will be restored. What little there is left of it!

(and maybe only 50 emails a day, instead of 1,000???  Please!!!!)

Look!  I got thru my whole inbox, and only 3 left!

only 3 emails

(2 are books I need to read, so they don’t really count, and I already deleted the OneDrive one.)  What an accomplishment!

AND, I just winnowed down my following list to only 57.  I don’t have to feel guilty about not following someone, just because they follow me, right, Hugh??  I just took a very big, relieved breath.  Maybe the insanity (of my inbox, anyway) has been banished.  My real sanity will always be in question!

Decluttering the Broken

Look at this gorgeous soap dispenser.

IMG_2455

I love it. I have a whole bathroom set that matches it, BUT, did you see the ginormous chip??

IMG_2456

I’ve decided since I’m a grown up now, I’m not going to live with broken, non-working, cracked, chipped stuff.  My real life is NOW, no more waiting till later to get good stuff. I deserve good stuff now.  (Even if it’s from Dollar Tree, if I like it, and it’s whole, it’s the good stuff.)

Time to toss it. It hurts to let it go…. Now my set will not be complete!!!   But, it’s time to just say bye…

Moment of silence, please.

Update: 10/21/15  I didn’t know when I deleted a picture from the library, it disappeared from the post.  Sorry!  And it’s long gone, so no do over.  My bad.  Won’t do that again!!
