Library Legacy

So, here I am in my newest “new” place!  I love it even more than my “old” new place!!  (Extra bonus- another place to purpelize!!)

And the owner blessed me with so many things left behind!!

Here’s a biggie:

20151130_072658

I’ve always wanted a library in my house!!  Now, I’ve got it!!  For free!!  (Gift with purchase!)

I’ll even read some of them!  There was a “The Power of a Praying Woman”, by Stormie O’Martian.  Very excited by that one.   Prayer is a powerful weapon, in our Christian arsenal.

And 6 “Amish” books.  Love those!

A half shelf full of cookbooks.  Eeks!  Not those!!  I don’t wanna do the “C” word anymore!!!!!!!!

Then other assorted novels that I will donate.  Yay, me!!  More de-cluttering!!!!

{This box was packed by PP personally!  She loved throwing the books off the shelves into boxes!  And I loved the help!}

So was this one. She loves to help!!

De-cluttering is a good thing!

Thoughtful Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful day.  We can just sit around with our families, most of us anyway, eating and visiting.

All pix courtesy of Mama’s Dr. ‘s office.

I’m so grateful for my whole family.  My  daughters, DD1, and DD2, and SIL (son-in-law), and PP.  Then there’s DH, and Sweet Friend .  And my birth family- Mama, Brother, and Shirley his wife,  Sister, and her kids Nick, Kristen, and Jaime, and 1 special Ex-Step-mother.

Then my whole extended family, on both sides- Hawkins and Chaney.  If I tried to name them all, I’d use up all my memory here on WP, just for their names!!

I will be with my peeps, eating the fore-amentioned pies, and being so thankful to God for ALL my blessings.

20151123_110319

One of my biggest blessings is my home, but something big is in the works there…..   You have to wait! It’s a surprise!  I know, I know, I hate it when people do this to me too!!  Sorry!!

Anyway, as I was saying, my biggest blessing is Jesus Christ, my Savior.  Then my family, friends, church, etc.  Last on the list are things: my home, my car, etc….   Things should never come before people!

Another blessing we all enjoy here in America, is freedom!  And it definitely isn’t free!  Thank you Veterans!!

So, Celebrate!  Be thankful!!  Eat, drink, and be merry!  Most of all, appreciate all your blessings every day.

I love y’all.   Y’all are a big blessing to me for reading, laughing, and commenting.   Thank you!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good meal!

Easy?? Easy for You to Say

Nony, from a SlobComesClean, always says, “Start with the Easy Stuff”.

But, what’s the “Easy Stuff”??

Stella from Purfylle answered that very well.  Please go read her post, AFTER you finish mine!

I was already planning this post, when I saw hers.  So, I asked her for permission to share.

She lists 5 categories of stuff that are easy to start with, with 6 sub-categories of #5.

Here’s how I’m doing with that.

I sat sulkily on my sofa, (read bed), staring at stuff.  I wanted to do SOmething, but what?  There wasn’t any trash (that I could see from my seat).  But, did I get up and go see for sure??  Nope, that would require actually moving.  And I just wanted to sit, and sulk, and stare at the stuff.

Built-in Dresser

Okay, this is a cheat pic, from before I moved in.  Sheesh, you guys are so hard on me!

My nice 8 drawer dresser sits empty, while a mountain of junk nice stuff sits on top.  That ain’t right, y’all.

But, it’s my truth.  I wanna be a recovered slob, but I’m far from it yet.

If I would just get up, and pick 1 thing, and put it away, I’d probably be motivated to do another, then another.

Alas, we may never know, since I chose to come over here to Sweet Friend’s house and blog about it, rather than actually, ya know, do it.   sigh

Dana’s Doings

Another golden oldie from Nony’s blog.
melinda says:

I just googled “Cleaning blogs”. And yours is still # 2! as of 1 am Sunday, July 13, 2014.
Just discovered your blog recently. Where have you been all my life? Either we r soul mates, or identical twin sisters, separated at birth! I love reading your thoughts. |They echo mine! And like you, I thought I (and my sister) were the only ones!! I truly thank God for you. What a huge blessing you are to me, and so many others. Please, keep it up!

  • Nony, Dana White in real life, answered my comment!
  • I was sooooo stoked when I read her answer!  This was about a month before I started PurpleSlob.
  • I was binge reading ASlobComesClean, for inspiration.
  • And boy, did I ever find it!  She knew me!  She “got” me!  She was just like me!
  • I had found my tribe!  Everyone on that site was so supportive, because they were in the throes of their own mess.
  • slob, humor, mess

My personal mess, well, one of them! And not just my mess, to be fair (to me!!) it’s PP’s mess!

Bundles of Bibles

Guess how many Bibles I had on my Expedit??  Go ahead- guess!

6!!  ( I couldn’t wait.  Sorry I blurted it out, before you had a chance to think.)

And I’m fully certain I can’t read all of them at once.  So, that being said, more than 1 or 2, might be {gulp}

clutter.  Shudder.   I can’t believe I just admitted that!

Hence, the need for de-cluttering.

Now, decision time;  exactly how many Bibles does 1 person need?

Let me start reasoning this out:  The burgundy one in the top photo is fairly new, large print, but is not sentimental to me, at all.  So, that one can go.

The orangish one is an old one of mine that is not sentimental at all either, so it can go.

Hey, this de-cluttering stuff isn’t as hard as I thought it would be!

The brown, spotted one is a really old one of Mama‘s, that she wrote comments in.  That one can NOT go!!  It is very sentimental to me.  I love reading it occasionally, and seeing what verses were particularly meaningful to her.

The one at the bottom, with a tree on it, was given to me by my parents, when I was 8.  VERY sentimental!   Keeping that one as well.

So, let’s see; so far out of 4 Bibles, I’ve gotten rid of 2, and kept 2.  Hmmmm…. 50%- how bad is that?

Any reduction in stuff, is good, right?  Nicole?  Kristen?

Considering I won’t have any bookshelves in my new place….  oh wait!  I have Granny’s corner cabinet!!

20150311_151837

It has shelves!!  That can be my Bible bookshelf!  Hurray!

Of course I’m keeping the purple one.  (that’s a no brainer!)

Grace&Truth-300x300

First Day

I’ve been reading Nony, from A Slob Comes Clean, for about a month now. She has motivated me to get my butt in gear. Sunday night, Monday morning!, I bought her 2 e-book set. Drowning in Clutter, Drain the Ocean, and 28 Days to Hope in Your Home. Of course, being me, I read them immediately.  Then, I got up and emptied the dw.  DH was so excited when he opened it Mon. morning and saw it empty.  Then I got really CRAY-CRAY, and while he took the grand baby, Pudding Pop, for her morning walk, I swept and mopped the living room. My back hurt, and I was huffing, and puffing. Yes, and sweating too.

This is from Juming museum.

But, it only took me approximately 10 minutes, start to finish, including moving the toys. Then I sat down, and basked in the glow of a job well down. And basked all day! And posted about it copiously on FB. and private messaged everyone who didn’t comment on my post. I’m so needy for approval. Then I decided to start this blog, to look back on my accomplishments, and brag on myself!

Actually, I’ve been working on cleaning up for longer than just 1 day.  After I got out of Physical Therapy Rehab, June 5, I started getting the itch to have a house that was nice. Not pristine, magazine level, no one can touch anything, just nice.  So, I began going thru boxes, and getting rid of stuff. It felt good to see those 3 boxes of donations, 1 box for consignment, and 13 gallons of trash leave out the door!  We straightened up the living room, and began having people over, well, family.  Then I even had the nerve to have Pudding Pop’s first birthday party here! Everything looked really good.

I have sewn 1 curtain for the living room, now I need to do 1 more. And wait for DH to put up the rods.

If I continue to help with the dishes, and sweep and mop every day, he’ll soon be putty in my hands!
