Paper Purgathon Presumed

I mean the Paused Paper Purgathon is being resumed, of course.  I just presumed you’d know that!

Now that Christmas, and New Year’s are over, and it’s more than a month later, I thought it might be time to get back to it.

slob, humor, challenge

Now remember, I only promised 15 minutes a day.    So these posts will just be small snippets.      But still long, I imagine.      You do NOT know how to be brief!

Here’s a reminder of our journey so far.

So that’s _ days so far.     Oh dear!      Time out while I count!      slob, humor, counting

slob, humor, I can count to 5!  Whew!     It was only up to 5!  I can handle that!     On 1 hand even!

I know, you counted 6 posts, but the first one doesn’t count, since I only talked about purging, but didn’t actually do any.       Okay, since today is not any actual purging either, just more talk about the same, how many actual work days, of purging do I need??

That would be 21 minus 5, Melinda.      Do ya need any help with that??      You do have to carry the one, ya know.

I can do it!     By myself!         (Oh boy!    Do I hear echos of PP, or what??!!)

And the answer is:  16.       Final answer?        Yup.          Congratulations!!        You answered a first grade math question correctly!

(No photo possible, I can’t use both hands, and both feet, AND take the pix!)

Alrightey then, after today, I need 16 more posts to make it to the end of Queen Anne’s 21 day challenge.       And we’ll see how many months THAT ends up taking!

Paper Purgathon- Perch?

Nope, not a fish!     lol      Good guess, though!       Perch as in dwelling place.       I wanted cubbyhole- but, ya know the rules BBFFJ enforces so stringently!!        AND cubbyhole was NOT in my New Roget’s.    slob, humor, must be defective copy   (I think I got the one defective copy.      It was copyrighted in ’89, 1989, not 1889!      And I know for a fact that cubbyhole is older than that….  so I’m at a loss, as to how cubbyhole is missing.     Things that make you go “Hmmmmm.”      Rabbit trail ran out….  back to the post.)

Okay, I’m talking about the cubbyhole in my desk.      It was messy!!          Melinda, I’m shocked!       Totally NOT!!

slob, humor, perch- as in cubbyhole     First thing was to empty it out, and dust.      Done.

Then sort thru the contents, and hopefully dispose of them properly.       (I’m hoping I don’t find anything radioactive in there!)

Nope!      Whew!       Just random bits of flotsam, and jetsam.        {When have you last heard THAT phrase??}

slob, humor, flotsam & jetsam     The pen was super easy to dispose of!  slob, humor, pen in place

Some of the photos, and an old calendar banished to the (overflowing) memories box.

slob, humor, memories  1 postcard, stamped to mail.      slob, humor, letters ready to go 2 photos put in envelopes to mail to cousins.

The bulletin for contacting church- I put in address book.  Why- I’m a genius!

A few other photos photographed, to blog about later.

slob, humor, sad story      This is a sad story, you’ll hear about later.    Promise!

slob, humor, slob proof 1983      Pictorial proof of slobbery, 1983.     I did NOT know Dad was taking this!     My dorm room, shortly before graduation.      Look how skinny I was!     On second thought, look how messy the room was!       Ignore me!

slob, humor, blast from the past     See?   I did so sew!     1991, Alaska, at a Mother-Daughter Tea.        It looks like the theme was “Little House on the Prairie”!       No, I didn’t make the quilt, nor did I know its colors beforehand!

So, after everything was all cleaned up, here it is now.

slob, humor, neat perch

So much neater! and lighter! (of paper, and related items!)

Just like Declutterathon- Da-shred!

(Yep, it’s all starting to run together in my head!)

Queen Anne’s Day 4: https://minimalistsometimes.com/2016/11/23/out-of-commission/  Poor Queen Anne was felled, but not from a massive paper cut, as I had feared.

Queen Anne’s Fellow Sovereigns:
– Viv, at GriefHappens, said she needed to be on this “like an over-sugared kid in a bouncy house”, and is joining with 30 minutes a day.🙂
– Jena, at All Round Better me,  is in for 60 minutes a week.
– Amy, at More time than money, also joining with 60 minutes a week.
– Grace, at The CFO MOM Blog, just told me she is joining, woohoo!

Sitting on the fence;
– Jen, at The Hidden Hoarder, is hard at work on her front porch, and hasn’t quuuuite decided yet.😉

– Gilly, at Anything Except Housework is no longer on the fence.   She had to withdraw from this challenge.     She is now full time care giver for her dad,  and mum, after an operation.   We’re here for moral support, Gilly!

Tonight as I was reading my news feed on FB, this came up.

http://www.aslobcomesclean.com/2014/03/how-to-reduce-paper-clutter

As my long time readers know, Nony is my slob mentor.    No, wait!       She did NOT teach me how to be a slob!         I did that one ALL by myself!         She’s my un-slobbing mentor!     There ya go!

(I sure wish I knew how to photo shop a pic of Nony and I together!  I’d be ALL over that bad boy!

slob, humor, Nonyslob, humor, happy!

Probably as close as I’m ever likely to get!)

Okay, enough fooling around with our heads….

So, since we’re in the midst of a Paper Purgathon, I thought, what better time than now to feature a post from Nony about paper de-cluttering??          Answer: None better.

Nony starts out:

How to Reduce Paper Clutter

Tips for reducing paper clutter at ASlobComesClean.com

Oh, how I don’t want to write this post. I’m only writing it because it has been specifically requested many many times.

Paper is a slob’s natural enemy. And I most definitely don’t have paper “under control.” This makes me feel unqualified to speak on the subject.

But . . . I’ve come a long way. A VERY long way.

So I decided to share how I have greatly reduced paper clutter in our home. Notice I saidreduced instead of conquered.

(Notice: Nony’s pic, not mine.)

Then she goes on to say:

So here’s how I’ve significantly reduced paper clutter in our home over the past few years:

(You’ll just have to go read her post to find out what she’s done!!)

http://www.aslobcomesclean.com/2014/03/how-to-reduce-paper-clutter

Now, since I’ve spent MORE than 15 min blogging about purging paper, does that count for today???

Not really!

Too bad!       I’m going with it!

Go check out what my fellow Queens are up to in their respective kingdoms!         Tell ’em PurpleSlob sayeth “Greetings, and Salutations!”

slob, younger clown me     What???    It’s a crown, isn’t it??

Sitting on the fence;

– Jen, at The Hidden Hoarder, is hard at work on her front porch, and hasn’t quuuuite decided yet.😉

Sadly,

-Gilly, at Anything but Housework, had to withdraw from the challenge, due to becoming full time care givers for her parents.     We’re here for moral support, Gilly!!

Purge on, people!

Paper Purgathon- Palisade

Palisade??     Yup, means enclosure.     And I consider the filing cabinet an enclosure.     Hence- palisade!       You didn’t know you’d be getting vocab lessons with your Paper Purgathon, didya??  slob, humor, winky    Hope you don’t roll your eyes too hard at me!

slob, humor, challenge

Ok, now down to today’s business.    Hitting the filing cabinet. AGAIN.      Seems like a theme with this purgathon, doesn’t it??

slob, humor, palisade pix

The palisade

It only took me about 15 min to gather up, go thru, and sort this time.     YAY!!

I culled out the already paid, and showing on this month’s bills, to be shredded. Total: 9

Money receipts, large size, related to above mentioned bills, to shred.  Total 10.

slob, humor, shred pile

New and improved shred pile. (Well, not improved, but definitely added to!)

Pages cut out of the herd, for recycling, total: 12.

Empty envelopes for recycling, total: 10    (After I tore off these large windows, that I figure I can use somehow in crafting.)

slob, humor, reusable windows?       Who needs to pay for laminating???      Free is for me, baby!

(No, they’re not floating in mid air.   I’m handing them to sweet friend, who had just come in to tell me he fixed my burnt out tail light.    He is a treasure!!)

Whew!   Glad that’s done!      (For now……..   bwahahaha!!)

Paper Purgathon- Pact

slob, humor, challengeIt was hard to come up with that first “P” word!

Here is my first mess to deal with, my desk.    Again.

slob, humor, receipts

And this is only since 11/9/2016

Yes, I know it was only _10__ short weeks ago that I de-cluttered that same area in Declutterathon Desk.       AND??         Your point is??      Slob here!!      IN recovery- not recovered yet, by a long shot!!

At least I know WHY this mess!      And where it came from!       Christmas shopping!!         At Bealls, the perfect place to shop!!          Clearance, and coupons, and discounts, oh my!!

Yes, I used a credit card.        (hangs head in shame)           I officially messed up.        But, we’re not here to discuss that!        Paper!        A Paper Purgathon! is today’s topic!

And so since they’re receipts, (two of which are 6 feet long!!),   slob, humor, 6 ft receipts!

(Any new readers asking why I don’t clean up a little first, before I take pix??      That would be, cuz I stay true to my name.       I’m a slob, and I show all the slobbery, in all its hideousness.)

why exactly are they just piled higgledy piggeldy on the desk?      Well, because they have surveys on the back, that enter me into $500.00 shopping spree!         And, if they just stay piled up there, will that enter you??          Well…… no…… but…..         No buts!     Get busy, enter them then toss!             Yes, ma’am, immediately ma’am!

Wow, she gets bossy sometimes!

Read, type, enter…..  rinse, repeat.       Over, and over, and over again.

Hey, that only took me 30 minutes!         For the Beall’s receipts, you mean.         Yeah, well…. yes.         How about the Taco Bell, and CVS ones??            Oh drat!       I have to do all those too????                     But I only promised 15 minutes a day!!           whine, whine, whine…..

(BTW: good thing I did this!     I found a Dr. appt notice, and a chit for blood work under all that!          Whew!        Dodged a bullet there!)

I’m making an executive decision.      Since I only promised 15 minutes a day, and I’ve already done double duty for today, I’m DONE for the day!!

slob, humor, checking bill- twice!

Update:  Got the bill, so I’m checking it twice!    (Yup, I really DID charge all that!!)

Hypothyroid Hell

“Here, let’s pray about it.  Just think positive thoughts, now.   You’ll be okay.”

I’m aghast that here it is 2016, and still some people think I can pull my self up by the bootstraps, out of depression.   Really, people????   No one in their right mind would say that to an amputee!!!   But, because my disability is invisible, it’s fair game????

I have spent a whole week, in such deep, dark, depression, that I’ve been suicidal.  Crying, aching for someone to just hold me, and cry with me.   Whisper “I’m here.   I love you.   I’m so sorry you’re hurting.”

But no.   Instead I got that first line up there.   Almost feels like I’m being told it’s my fault.  It’s NOT my fault!!   Yes, it’s all in my head- brain, and thyroid, which is in my neck.    But the blood chemistry being off, and missing vital chemicals is NOT my fault!!

When I figured out Thursday afternoon, what was wrong, I wanted to punch my doctor.  I have hypothyroidism.   Which means, my thyroid is sluggish, and doesn’t make enough thyroid hormone.   I’ve had this condition for 26 years, ever since I was pregnant with DD2.  My thyroid, for unknown reasons, just decided to quit functioning correctly.   So, I have been fighting this battle a LONG, LONG time.   This combined with bi-polar makes my life extremely difficult.   So many variables, and they have to be all lined up exactly, in order for me to function optimally.    My levels have been fluctuating, and my Dr. kept lowering my dose.   This last time, she lowered it to HALF of my dose from last year.   I BEGGED her not to do it.   “I’m doing okay.  Please don’t lower it.”  Nope, she did it, cuz my “Bloodwork”  showed my levels were wrong.   Well, to her, it’s numbers on a report, to ME, it’s my life!!  And so, because she didn’t listen to me, I spent a week in hell.  Life is not even worth living, if you’re constantly in hell, and looking for a way out, and all fire exits are blocked.

(This is a pretty good visual.   Even though it doesn’t completely express the depths of despair.)

So, Friday morning, I took my old 200 mcg dose.  And Sat. and Sun.   No improvement yet.  But, I will keep on taking the 200, till I feel myself at least at ground level, instead of a thousand feet down in a hole.

Physical recovery takes a long time.  And when your Doctor doesn’t listen, and sabotages you, it takes even longer.  I don’t mean that I think she did it on purpose to hurt me.   I know she is doing her best to help me.   But, I’m not just numbers on a paper.   I’m me.

I’m writing this Sunday night.   I was so desperate to get to my counselor, and then go see my Doctor tomorrow.   Then I remembered it’s Dr. Martin Luther King day.   So, they’re both closed.  The only thing I’ll be celebrating, is if I live through another night.

Sorry, I know this is a heavy topic.   And there’s no jokes, or anything to make you laugh.  Welcome to my reality.   It’s not always a very pretty place.

Update: Monday I feel so much better!  It’s amazing what having what you need, will do for you!   Even did stuff!  Cleaned!!  (Don’t faint!!)  De-cluttered!

Lady Sunshine’s questions for me :

1. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?

I’ve had several nicknames throughout my life.  One was Mel, when I was going thru my rebellious, “I hate my name” stage.  Then in 8th grade, I named myself Mindy.  Now of course, I’m “Purple Slob”.

2. What books on your shelf are begging to be read?

My Bible.  I try to always read it every day.  I say try.  And, I have a book, “Season of Angels” , Debbie Macomber that I’m wanting to read.

3.What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep? Toss and Turn? Try to get up and do something productive?

Sometimes I get up and read, or get on FB.  Sometimes I eat!  Bad me, bad me!

⁴. How many days could you last in solitary confinement? How would you do it?

I think I could last awhile, if I had books, and paper and pen.  Maybe some crayons, and coloring book.   But, they are gonna feed me, right???
5. When making an entrance in to a party, do you make your presence known? Do you slip in and look for someone you know? Do you sneak in quietly and find a safe spot to roost?

Oh, I definitely make my presence known!  I am a big time par-tay girl!  Love to be the center of attention!!
6. What is your strongest sense? If you had to give one up, which would it be?

I think seeing would be my strongest, even though I need glasses now! lol  Hmmmm, if I had to give one up??

I guess I’d choose smelling to let go of.  I would never want to be blind, or deaf, or unable to feel.

Now, I get to ask the questions.  Sunshine gave me such thought provoking ones, I need to dig deep to come up with some great ones, too!

My questions for y’all:

  1. Boxers or briefs?  Not really, I just couldn’t resist.  DO NOT ANSWER THIS!!
  2. Which is more important to you in a relationship, looks or personality?
  3. How did you decide to start blogging?
  4. What is your definition of Brotherhood?
  5. How do you define happiness?
  6. Are you a slob, or a cleanie?
  7. What was the name of your first childhood pet, and what was it?
  8. Who is your favorite relative?
  9. And why?

Dratted Dishes

These dratted dishes!  I swear, I just washed them, last month!  And it was these exact same dishes!

I do adore them, but not when they’re annoyingly dirty!

Why oh why do I need to eat??

Love these square dishes!

Love these square dishes!

I just wanna be a Breatharian!!

It works for air plants, right??

Air_plant_(Tillandsia)

Aha! Found another way! Paper bowls, and plates!!  And yes, they are a real thing.

(I tried foam- not so good in the microwave, or if something is hot in general.  It melts.  Go ahead, ask me how I know??)

I’ll get on top of these dishes someday!

But, tomorrow’s another day!
