Twin Twist

My friend Kristen C, yes, the cleanie!  made a huge announcement on her blog last Thurs.   She’s pregnant!!   I am so happy for her and Jerrod!   and wait for it…… they’re having twins!!

I knew those 2 crazy-in-love kids before they WERE even Kristen & Jerrod!!    When they announced their engagement, I was in shock!    What???    How did this happen??     They didn’t even hold hands in church.    He didn’t even put his arm around her!!    How was I supposed to know they were serious???

But they have so much in common, and are so cute together!!     After they got married, I started praying for them to have a baby.    When Kristen shared their infertility struggles, that gave me the information of how to pray specifically for them.

And now, their dreams of a baby are coming true, twice as nice!!    God answered our prayers in a huge way!!

Watching this journey thru her pregnancy, and then the babies growing is gonna be so much fun!!

Yikes!    I just thought of something- 2 more quilts needed!!     Relax!!!     I’ll be all done with my present queue by the end of May, and the twins aren’t due until end of August!     I got this covered!

(Not their quilt, just a previous one I made.)

Ya know what??    If I was really smart, I’d make the baby quilts, just as soon as they tell people which one the babies are, the pinks or the blues.    Oops, I mean the pinks or the boys.    Oops, I mean, the girls or the boys!    The twins are identical, so how fun is that gonna be to dress them just alike!!!     gets lost in a baby clothes buying daydream for days……….

Agoraphobia Agony

Now, I’m not agoraphobic.   Thank God!   It’s nice to know there’s at least ONE disease I don’t have!   I have 99 problems, but that ain’t one of ’em.

But, I can and do sympathize, and empathize with how hard it must be for someone who suffers from that.   Or another serious medical condition.

Even with as simple as my medical needs are, sometimes it’s.just.too.hard.to.leave.the.house.

Since I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, I always have my water bottle at my finger tips.   The other day, I forgot it, and I almost had a full blown panic attack!    Water is essential to maintaining my health.    (And yours too!)

There’s those giant man hands again!

(Note the purple initial Tervis, thanks Sweet Friend!!)

But, then of course that leads to the inevitable consequence, the constant need for potty breaks.   And that leads to the need for a tall potty, so I don’t hurt my knees.

handicapped potty chair

Ooohh, love the handles!!

And a handicapped stall, so my fat butt doesn’t get stuck.   Seriously, it’s a concern.    One time, the stall door was literally so small, I could not go in.    Nightmare, anyone???  (BTW, I never went back to that restaurant.)   AND, my PTTPLSD  (Post-Traumatic-Toilet-Paper-Lessness-Stress Disorder)- What if they’re OUT????   {shudder}    Oh, the horror!!

So, some days, it’s just not worth all that hassle.

Not to mention, having to TAKE a SHOWER, and, FIND clean clothes!   OY VEY!   (Both of which require intensive amounts of positive self-talk to work up the umph to actually do.)

Found the perfect meme for this!

Me- every day

So, if you’re ever in the neighborhood, and wonder why no one sees me for days at a time, I’ll be chained to the water fountain by my hands, and the other end will be chained to you-know-where.

“Doggy Did Dit.”

(Title quote credit to PP.)

It was the best of days, it was the worst of days.  Why?  Well, let me just entertain you with my pain.

I went to help my Sister clear the way for new furniture. Yay new furniture!  Everything was humming along, but I was getting tired.

As I went thru the dining room, suddenly her dog decided that he needed to occupy the EXACT SAME SPACE as ME, THAT SECOND!  AS you know from my pix, there is NOT a thigh gap between my legs!  Not even a tiny one.  And her dog isn’t tiny!  Did I mention he’s a HUGE 100 pound Rottweiler??  (He thinks he’s still a puppy lap dog, too!)  So, as you might expect, I hit the deck.  Not with an exclamation of joy, either.

Not actually Ranger.

So, as I lay there, stunned, my sister is frantically checking me out.

“Can you hear me??  How many fingers am I holding up??  Are you bleeding??”

Yes, I can hear you loud and clear- you’re shouting in my ear!  And, I’d be able to see better if your fingers weren’t in my eyes!

JK, she was not shouting, and not poking me in the eye either.  But it sounds funnier than the truth.

Thank God, I was not broken, or bleeding.  I did give myself a good jolt, and some pretty purple bruises will be blooming tomorrow, I feel confident!  And, oh- how I wanted to kick that dog!!

But how can you be mean to him, when he just looks up at you so adoringly and says, “Hey, that game was fun, let’s do it again!!”

Lady Sunshine’s questions for me :

1. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?

I’ve had several nicknames throughout my life.  One was Mel, when I was going thru my rebellious, “I hate my name” stage.  Then in 8th grade, I named myself Mindy.  Now of course, I’m “Purple Slob”.

2. What books on your shelf are begging to be read?

My Bible.  I try to always read it every day.  I say try.  And, I have a book, “Season of Angels” , Debbie Macomber that I’m wanting to read.

3.What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep? Toss and Turn? Try to get up and do something productive?

Sometimes I get up and read, or get on FB.  Sometimes I eat!  Bad me, bad me!

⁴. How many days could you last in solitary confinement? How would you do it?

I think I could last awhile, if I had books, and paper and pen.  Maybe some crayons, and coloring book.   But, they are gonna feed me, right???
5. When making an entrance in to a party, do you make your presence known? Do you slip in and look for someone you know? Do you sneak in quietly and find a safe spot to roost?

Oh, I definitely make my presence known!  I am a big time par-tay girl!  Love to be the center of attention!!
6. What is your strongest sense? If you had to give one up, which would it be?

I think seeing would be my strongest, even though I need glasses now! lol  Hmmmm, if I had to give one up??

I guess I’d choose smelling to let go of.  I would never want to be blind, or deaf, or unable to feel.

Now, I get to ask the questions.  Sunshine gave me such thought provoking ones, I need to dig deep to come up with some great ones, too!

My questions for y’all:

  1. Boxers or briefs?  Not really, I just couldn’t resist.  DO NOT ANSWER THIS!!
  2. Which is more important to you in a relationship, looks or personality?
  3. How did you decide to start blogging?
  4. What is your definition of Brotherhood?
  5. How do you define happiness?
  6. Are you a slob, or a cleanie?
  7. What was the name of your first childhood pet, and what was it?
  8. Who is your favorite relative?
  9. And why?

My email icon.  I hope those ladies don’t mind being on the web!

Hello  6/26/15  Just reread this today.;

melindasays:

I have purged today! 2 drawers full of stationery, 90% of which is being donated. The chest the drawers came out of has to be thrown away due to water damage. Then I purged 7 gallons of trash from a large moving box,(7 GALLONS!!!) and condensed down to a small diaper box! Feeling so good right now! Waiting for my husband to come back from the store, so he can bring me another box. Here’s hoping I can stay on this high for awhile!! Thank you, Nony!

I e-mailed this to myself, because I was re-reading the post of Nony’s and saw my comment from last year.

This was 15 days before I started my own blog.

It was so neat to catch a glimpse of my former self on her blog!

I can’t link to the specific post, because I didn’t save it, of course!  But here is her site.

http://www.aslobcomesclean.com/

Nony started out blogging anonymously, hence “Nony”, because she was so embarrassed.

Not so me, everyone who ever knew me, knew I was a slob.  I couldn’t go incognito if I wanted to!

Insert any one of a thousand pix here, as proof.

But, thank God, I’m on my way to recovery, and soon, I won’t be a slob anymore!  Then I’ll have to rename my blog, ” Purple Slob Recovered.”  Oh!  Won’t that be the day!!

First Day

I’ve been reading Nony, from A Slob Comes Clean, for about a month now. She has motivated me to get my butt in gear. Sunday night, Monday morning!, I bought her 2 e-book set. Drowning in Clutter, Drain the Ocean, and 28 Days to Hope in Your Home. Of course, being me, I read them immediately.  Then, I got up and emptied the dw.  DH was so excited when he opened it Mon. morning and saw it empty.  Then I got really CRAY-CRAY, and while he took the grand baby, Pudding Pop, for her morning walk, I swept and mopped the living room. My back hurt, and I was huffing, and puffing. Yes, and sweating too.

But, it only took me approximately 10 minutes, start to finish, including moving the toys. Then I sat down, and basked in the glow of a job well down. And basked all day! And posted about it copiously on FB. and private messaged everyone who didn’t comment on my post. I’m so needy for approval. Then I decided to start this blog, to look back on my accomplishments, and brag on myself!

Actually, I’ve been working on cleaning up for longer than just 1 day.  After I got out of Physical Therapy Rehab, June 5, I started getting the itch to have a house that was nice. Not pristine, magazine level, no one can touch anything, just nice.  So, I began going thru boxes, and getting rid of stuff. It felt good to see those 3 boxes of donations, 1 box for consignment, and 13 gallons of trash leave out the door!  We straightened up the living room, and began having people over, well, family.  Then I even had the nerve to have Pudding Pop’s first birthday party here! Everything looked really good.

I have sewn 1 curtain for the living room, now I need to do 1 more. And wait for DH to put up the rods.

If I continue to help with the dishes, and sweep and mop every day, he’ll soon be putty in my hands!
