I was thinking about naming it after this house, which PP has already deemed “My 8 house.”      Guess why??

Our house number, now.

But when I tried to alliterate eight, all I could come up with, was Eight Eighths, and nothing beyond that.      1 title does not a series make.

So here I sit, unable to even begin writing, (I know, what have I been doing for over 100 words??) cuz I’m blank on names.

Maybe you should read the dictionary, or thesaurus for a while, to get your juices flowing?

But I don’t need definitions, or synonyms, nor antonyms, I need alliteratives!!       Now I’m wondering,  “What would you name a book of alliteratives, anyway??”      I realize that’s off topic, but I wonder!

Btw, I had to Google the word alliterative, just to make sure I was spelling it okay.           And you’ll never guess what the 11th result was??!!

You’ve probably been wondering when I’d get back to the Paper Purgathon.        I just know it’s been bothering you, that I would just leave it hanging like I did.

Well, personally I had to pause it, to concentrate on Christmas prep.

And poor Queen Anne was felled by that massive migraine, that turned into a month long ordeal.    As I mentioned in Paper Purgathon Perch.       (We were both praying she’d survive.     It was catastrophic.)     So she was in pause mode as well.    All in all, we agreed all around to discontinue until 2017.

Now you know the rest of the story.

Nope, not a fish!     lol      Good guess, though!       Perch as in dwelling place.       I wanted cubbyhole- but, ya know the rules BBFFJ enforces so stringently!!        AND cubbyhole was NOT in my New Roget’s.       (I think I got the one defective copy.      It was copyrighted in ’89, 1989, not 1889!      And I know for a fact that cubbyhole is older than that….  so I’m at a loss, as to how cubbyhole is missing.     Things that make you go “Hmmmmm.”      Rabbit trail ran out….  back to the post.)

Okay, I’m talking about the cubbyhole in my desk.      It was messy!!          Melinda, I’m shocked!       Totally NOT!!

     First thing was to empty it out, and dust.      Done.

Then sort thru the contents, and hopefully dispose of them properly.       (I’m hoping I don’t find anything radioactive in there!)

Nope!      Whew!       Just random bits of flotsam, and jetsam.        {When have you last heard THAT phrase??}

     The pen was super easy to dispose of!  

Some of the photos, and an old calendar banished to the (overflowing) memories box.

  1 postcard, stamped to mail.       2 photos put in envelopes to mail to cousins.  

The bulletin for contacting church- I put in address book.  Why- I’m a genius!

A few other photos photographed, to blog about later.

      This is a sad story, you’ll hear about later.    Promise!

      Pictorial proof of slobbery, 1983.     I did NOT know Dad was taking this!     My dorm room, shortly before graduation.      Look how skinny I was!     On second thought, look how messy the room was!       Ignore me!

     See?   I did so sew!     1991, Alaska, at a Mother-Daughter Tea.        It looks like the theme was “Little House on the Prairie”!       No, I didn’t make the quilt, nor did I know its colors beforehand!

So, after everything was all cleaned up, here it is now.

So much neater! and lighter! (of paper, and related items!)

Yeah, I know, pile, Pete, pile no makey sense.     But I couldn’t put Repeat, like I wanted to!   (You know how stringent my BBFFJ is about the alliteration rules!       And since she’s a teacher, I don’t wanna get called into the principal’s office!!)

And this is only since 11/9/2016

I finished up the pile of receipts on my desk.    FINAALLY!        And it only took 2 tries!      Woo hoo!

As I looked at the receipts, to enter the surveys, about 4 of the fast food ones were expired.   No judging!      It’s Christmas!      (Near enough for fast food excuses, anyway!)      So, those were easy trash decisions.

Now, it looks like this.

I know, I shouldn’t show the solitaire game I’m playing!

Then, because Nov. was already over, I just had to trash all the CVS receipts.    You only have until the end of the month to do the surverys.     😦            That’s what ya get for procrastinating!           I wasn’t procrastinating, I had other priorities!          Okay, yeah, I was procrastinating.

But, now it’s really neat!       No receipts!      (The few I kept to brag, blog about later, are in the Palisade.)

Ah!  Clean again!!      Nice!        (Having flashbacks to the Declutterathon Desk!)

Oh, how I don’t want to write this post. I’m only writing it because it has been specifically requested many many times.

Paper is a slob’s natural enemy. And I most definitely don’t have paper “under control.” This makes me feel unqualified to speak on the subject.

But . . . I’ve come a long way. A VERY long way.

So I decided to share how I have greatly reduced paper clutter in our home. Notice I saidreduced instead of conquered.

Palisade??     Yup, means enclosure.     And I consider the filing cabinet an enclosure.     Hence- palisade!       You didn’t know you’d be getting vocab lessons with your Paper Purgathon, didya??      Hope you don’t roll your eyes too hard at me!

Ok, now down to today’s business.    Hitting the filing cabinet. AGAIN.      Seems like a theme with this purgathon, doesn’t it??

It only took me about 15 min to gather up, go thru, and sort this time.     YAY!!

I culled out the already paid, and showing on this month’s bills, to be shredded. Total: 9

Money receipts, large size, related to above mentioned bills, to shred.  Total 10.

New and improved shred pile. (Well, not improved, but definitely added to!)

 

Pages cut out of the herd, for recycling, total: 12.

Empty envelopes for recycling, total: 10    (After I tore off these large windows, that I figure I can use somehow in crafting.)

       Who needs to pay for laminating???      Free is for me, baby!

Finally- day 21!!       It seems like it’s taken me a month longer than everybody else to do a 3 week challenge!!      (Maybe because it HAS??      Queen Anne finished hers on Sept. 25! )

Alrightey, then!      Let’s dive straight into the straightening!!  

Timer set?       Ready, steady, set, GO!!      

Top drawer revealed:     Dresser drawers!!      Not Southern type “drawers”!!

   2nd drawer.          3rd drawer.

Need to find the pic of the bottom drawer!!

In the top drawer I had tons of expired meds.      NOT good!!        I know, I know!!

     Aha!   Here it is!      The bottom drawer pic, I mean.     Okay, back to the expired meds.       Lots and LOTS of expired med!   

Lots, and LOTs of expired meds!            13 bottles, 1 baggy, and 2 boxes.        The top box is not even my med!       How do I have my Mama’s med???        So, I have it bagged up to take to the expired med. drop off place.        Thanks, Queen Anne for the info on finding that expired med. drop off place.      Also in the top drawer, was a memory T-shirt.            It seems unreal that I used to fit into this shirt!        No, we don’t need to mention how many years ago!!       My college BFF, Joyous, gave it to me, after she graduated our college, and moved on to the next one.      (3 guesses what it was! )       It is now in the memory box.

Also, a purple little bin, and a charging cord.              Could this be the charging cord for the laptop I already gave away???        If it is, happily, the lady lives just down the street!

Oh my, that 2nd drawer!!        What a literal treasure trove!!         I wonder how many elementary treasure chests you could stock outta that drawer??

Let’s see:

 

Well, maybe not the vinyl letters…..      And the light switch plate is slated for the girls’ room.

  Nice pair of purple gloves!!           Nope, not a pair.         Seriously??         Now we’re gonna start the whole thing over again, but with single gloves???                      Well, at least I have  1 matched pair!!         And since winter is only approx 49 hours long, I think I’ll be okay.      So the 2 spares went in file 13.        Yay!       Another slam dunk!          (But speaking of winter- where’s my hat?????)

Look what the 3rd drawer had in store, Jen!          These single socks seem determined to follow in our very foot steps!!          Buh, bye!

    Bottom held this gem, along with fabric.        The fabric was shifted over to the left side, along with all the other fabric.       Now, what to do with this???   I no longer take breathing treatments.        (And haven’t in the last 8 years.     I do believe I’m good!)       But do I keep it just in case I ever do??           If I can donate it, where??           Questions, questions, everywhere, and no answers in sight.       I need a little Nony help right now!       I guess I’ll call the pharmacy, and see what they say.

Top.       How neat and organized!!        I love it!!          Thank you!!           (IF you’re wondering what those vials are, they held the expired epi-pens.      Nony suggested keeping them for little stuff.         Like PP’s confetti, maybe??        Definitely!!)

2nd dresser drawer.         Ummm, well…. it’s decluttered …        Yup!  Undies only!!              And socks.             Yes, undies- tops, and bottoms, and socks.          But certainly not Kon-maried!!           And that’s ok.         It’s decluttered, only undies are there, and I’m all good with that!!

3rd drawer.                  The all jammies, all the time drawer!           I’m excited that now I know where to put stuff, and I can find it now!!

Bottom:  The piece de resistance!              

Just look at all that lovely empty space!!        Woot Woot!        I’m so proud of you!!         Thank you!!       I’m quite proud of myself!         Now, the trick is to keep it like that!!         You know they will want to see an update in a month or so!       I’ll keep that in mind!
